One down, three to go

Marketing concept finals was this morning... *phew*
Glad that's done and over with..all the sleepless nights of studying marketing has finally come to an end..hehe...
Actually, it's quite easy...I guess..but I know for sure that 8 marks have flown away...*sob*
I forgot my consumer products thingy...cis..
But nevertheless, I feel rejuvenated...notwithstanding the fact that I still have three more papers to go..
I feel like a weight has been lifted of my shoulders!! hehe..

but I feel it coming back down again in three days time before microeconomics finals..

but one thing to look forward to....partying after thursday!! hehe...
I've already planned it out...

My plans for after finals..
1. watch Casino Royale
2. watch all my backdated csi miami and ny and lv

yea..heh..*paiseh* my grandma's birthday dinner is in two weeks, and I risk going there like a fat pumpkin..unless I undergo an intensive exercise regime immediately after my finals..

Bello says I've lost some weight...really??

hmmm... *ponder* don't think so...
Oh well,to make myself feel better, I'll pretend it's true..

Exam woes..

It is three days to my final exams...and I feel tired, and sleepy, and devoid of any happy emotion...just feel mentally stressed..kinda like brain freeze, but without the cold numbness..

For the past week, I have been sleeping at 3 am, and waking up at 7 am (that's just 4 hours sleep)...just to study for my especially...cis...I now look like a walking zombie...

I can't even remember anything I've studied about marketing... *sob*

I told myself that I'll try my best to get a distinction, but at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to even get a pass... *sigh*

Well, to cheer myself up and lift this melancholic mood, LKC finally got back from KK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for me!!! hehe...

Got to meet him the other night, and I had a great time just hanging out with him, doing nothing..I've forgotten how good it felt to be hugged and comforted by him... *happiness* I complained to him about my troubles, how terrified I am of the exams, and it felt good to know that he's there for me whenever I need him...some people say that it's better without a partner, but I beg to differ. I feel that it's just great that there is someone (other than your family) there for you, to pick you up when you're down, laugh with you when you're happy, and be there for you when you need them, but most importantly, someone who loves you for who you are, who doesn't care how you've changed physically, because it's what's inside that counts.

Sometimes, I also felt that maybe I'm better off alone, but when it all comes down to the most important things in life, I wouldn't trade LKC for anything else in the world.

guess what......

TD got 10 for her presentation!!!! 10 means FULL MARKS!!! cis...

Can't even begin to imagine what I'm feeling now...I have been slaving the past few weeks away studying like a dog for my Marketing Concept finals, because I know I need a miracle to pass so I won't have to see the lecturer again, and TD gets a freaking 10 MARKS for her presentation.
My group only got 7.5.. *sob*

I am currently feeling part awe, part annoyed, and part jealous...*hmpf*

part awe because no one I know in mkt cpt actualy got 10, part annoyed because her groups' presentation wasn't even that good (they exceeded the word limit and time frame and they looked at scripts), part jealous because I wish I the lecturer liked me, and that I actually know how to suck up to the lecturer like she did...

I know some of you are most probably thinking to yourself:
"get a grip, for what get so annoyed? 10, so 10 lar...for what care so much?"

for those of you thinking that way, f*** off!!!!!!!! don't patronize me. This is my blog, I can say whatever I want. you don't like it, then press alt f4!!!!!

Fruitful Sunday

Sunday morning was spent in a most fruitful way..hehe…besides having breakfast at Ta Wan Kung (absolutely delicious noodles, located at Ang Cheng Ho road), we made a foray to Hock Lee Centre in an attempt to de-stress…and who did we meet there, but a China sifu! He knows how to carve names on stone, like those antique looking ancient China stamps, the ones like the ‘cop mohor’ the emperor’s have, and he also knows how to write names in the most compelling manner, using animals, and flowers as his motif…so exciting!

So to make full use of his presence here, my sisters and I took the opportunity to ask him to write out Chinese names…

Gents at ah-ha! talk about oriinality..

Last Thursday during marketing concept lecture, we had to bring a magazine, and pick out an advertisement and talk about its advertising objectives, which are to inform, remind, and persuade. Miss Lim asked us to bring the mag, but not to pick out an advert. So, being her old self with the attitude, she just asked us to open up our mag to our advert. But cos she didn’t tell us to pickan advert beforehand, our group was not she decided to punish us, by asking us to do a Whisper pad advertorial.

But before that, she wanted to look for the ad, but couldn’t find it in any of our magazines. So she was wondering to herself, why “Female” doesn’t have any ad like this? That was when Tokyo Drift spoke up, in her nasal voice, ‘teacher, we have what you’re looking for’ and proceeded to give the ad to her. Cis..don’t know how to mind her own business, always like to jaga tepi kain orang.

So, I proceeded to present the ad, albeit some laughs from the class. Even though Miss Lim pointed out a few mistakes I made, I thought I did a pretty good job. Hah! In your face TD!!!

When we finished our tute, I kept the magazine, knowing full well that it belonged to TD’s group. If they really wanted their mag back, they will come ask it from me. But, she didn’t. She asked it from Ron instead. Talk about cowardice. Want to embarrass people, then in the end don’t dare to face people to take back her mag. I told Ron, that if she really wanted her mag back, she has to come get it from me herself. Then Ron rasa serba salah.. *sorry ron*

When we reached the lobby, I saw her group leader, then I thought… okla, don be so bad la..return the mag lar’..So I walked up to the group leader and returned the mag to him…then I had a talk with him and his other group members. TD wasn’t there..damn!

Anyways, I told him how it wasn’t right for his group to do what they did to our group. We didn’t do anything wrong towards his group, why should they be so ‘chau leng geng’ and try to kena-kan us? I mean, if he was in our shoes, and I was in his, I wouldn’t be so bad hearted to show the ad to Miss Lim eventhough our group had the ad. People are not born to be so mean and try to embarrass other people for the fun of it.

He told me that his group didn’t mean it that way, that actually, they wanted to do the ad for themselves. Miss Lim just took it and gave it to us. I gave the allowance that MAYBE they really didn’t mean it that way. But couldn’t they just wait til Miss Lim went to their table, then show her the ad? Why so kan-cheong? If they waited til Miss Lim went to their table, then tolf her about the ad, and Miss Lim STILL wanted us to do it, then I have no say in it. But that wasn’t the case.

People, no matter how bad they are, or how mean, or how stupid, they do not deserve to be embarrassed. That was what I told him. Not those exact words, but words to that effect. He apologized, and I was somewhat mollified (knowing that it really wasn’t his fault. After all, I have been in the same tuition with him in the past [SPM] and I know that he’s the quiet type, not really into trying to kena-kan other people), so I accepted his apology. I wasn’t so forgiving about TD though..Lil says she has the ‘tek lang lo’’s in hokkien, so if you don’t understand, ask those that know hokkien to translate it for you, okie? =)

Okie…enough story-telling for one day..hehe..tata!

Prefects Camp 2006

Last Saturday was the St Jo prefects camp, organized by the new board…and I went and helped out! Actually, Ron and Lilian were supposed to come as well, but Ron had promised to help Wei Khee for his QA assignment, and Lil had no transportation..
Saw Van Michelle, Bren Lo, and Edmund Lo all covered in mud..hehe…

So anyways, I found out something great!!! But I can’t blog about it yet, cos it’s still hush hush..hehe..when it’s announced, I’ll tell the whole world!!!

But…moving on to the camp..on Sat night, Lil and I went to the bbq night at the sepak takraw court. Many other ex Josephian prefects went as well..including Alcos (ex-head boy/asst head I 2002/2003) hope I got the year right..hehe..I had so many helpings of chicken wing, I had to exercise for so long just to burn off the fat.. -_-"

Thanks to Laura’s mom for supplying the recipe, and thanks also to Wui Teng and Julian for doing the marinating!!

I had fun that night, except for one isolated incident when Lil and I went to wash our hands after consuming the chicken..

After we washed our hands, we were walking back to the sepak takraw court, when we saw Ed and a few of the prefects cutting up some fruits…with some difficulty. Having have some experience with fruit cutting, since I’m always the one cutting fruits for consumption in my household, I tried to help by explaining to them another easier way to cut up a particular fruit. There was this girl and guy that looked at me one kind when I was explaining, and after I finished my explanation, the guy promptly said “I know” and gave me THE LOOK.

If you know already, then why you still doing it the harder way? Want to show to people that you so hardworking isit? That even though you macho you can still be domestic? Whatever. People want to help you, extend a helping hand to you, and you show your gratitude by acting that way?

So perhaps I WAS a busy body, trying to help where I’m not needed. But was it really necessary to act that way? You can say “I know” in a more polite manner. Remember, I might not be in school anymore, but I’m still your senior (as in, older than you), and aren’t we all raised to respect our seniors even though we don’t like them? I’m not asking for total reverence whenever I go to school. I’m not asking for you to absolutely kiss the ground I walk on. I am asking for respect. And that kind of attitude coming from a prefect. Talk about being the cream of the crop of the school, but still acting in that manner... *sigh*

So maybe when I tried to help, to you, I wasn’t respecting the way you do things. And for that, I am sorry. In the event of trying to do a good deed, it turned out that I wasn’t even helping.

Rude, or polite?

Where do we draw the line between being rude, or polite? When we decline when we are offered something? Or when we take something offered, without really wanting it?

I was faced with that situation recently, when I continuously declined offers from my friend.

This prompted him to say “From now on, I will not offer you anything anymore, since you always say ‘no, thanks. It’s ok’. Where I come from, it is customary that we take the offering, whether we want to or not…”

So that statement got me thinking…am I really being impolite? By declining his offer? Because I thought I was being polite, by not taking something I do not want, rather than taking it and not eating it, thus wasting the food.

So I got a few comments from my family and friends, and this is my explanation on why I acted the way I did…

In Malaysia, it’s our culture that when we do not want something, we decline it politely. Not in the way that says ‘I’m not eating your food, cos I look down on you, and your food is lousy’. But more to the way that says ‘No, thank you. But I appreciate the offer.’

So, we’re different from other countries in this aspect, I guess. I heard from friends that in London or other more westernised countries, that even though we do not want it, we still take it to avoid from offending that person.

But I was still a little bothered by my friend’s comment, it was like as if he was forcing me to accept what I do not want. I’m sure it wasn’t his intention, but I can’t help but feel that way. Maybe I’m being too sensitive. Or maybe not.

So what do I do? Should I start to accept his offers, or go on the way I always have before? Decline something when I do not want it, and accept when I do?

I guess many people have their own conception on whether they view something as polite or rude. It’s all up to your way of thinking. If you want it to offend you, then there’s nothing we can say to un-offend you. If you chose not to be offended, then there’s nothing we can say to offend you, right?

So when the time came, we went into the presentation room with trepidation, a bundle of nerves, and gigantic butterflies fluttering profusely in our stomachs...
I forgot my script! along with all my group members.. -_-"
but at the end of the day, we got out unscathed, and willing to do another..*right*

Anyways, we has reason to celebrate, cos It's all over!!! hehe..and we went raya visiting at Abang Izat's house after you know that he was Green Road's Head boy 2004/2005?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Group photo!! yes, i have short hair..don be surprised. -_-"

Selamat Hari Raya!!

sigh...hehe...Hari Raya was last week, but only now have time to post...Swinburne servers all down..

So anyway, we went celebrating on the 2nd and 3rd day of Raya..
2nd day - Encik Shariman, Azelea, and Amalina
3rd day - Abang Izat, Azalina

To all my other malay friends, who, incidentally, are back for Raya and I didn't get the chance o visit you, SORRY!!!! I didn't mean it..

I have to say, I noticed that Malays are different from chinese when it comes to decorating their house..Malays pay more atention to detail and aesthetic value compared to chinese.. It's true..I don't have the words to describe in detail, so lets just leave it at that...

So who went visiting with us? me, Ron, Lilian, Edward, Wei Khee, Darren Sim, and Bello. Ching Yiew was supposed to follow us as well, but he had tenis coaching at 4, so he opted out instead.

By right, we were supposed to take off at 2, so we could reach Shaman's house by 3, give or take...but, Ron only picked me at 3... -_-" so we were a whole hour late..Ivor was supposed to visit with us, but in the end, due to unforeseen circumstances, he didn't. Instead, he met us at Azelea's house..

We found Shaman's house with ease, but the way to Azie's house was frought with obstacles. Since only Ron knew the way, he lead the rest of the drivers, who are Darren, and Ed. but at the roundabout they lost sight of him, and proceeded to get lost..we actually took close to one hour to reunite everyone...which was by 6.. O_o

I told Ron he was driving too fast, but he denied it! cis...jelas jelas the speedometer read approx 70km/j, he said no?!?! and it was with lanes full of traffic summore..had to wait til Darren asked him to slow down then he admit defeat..

We met so many people at Azie's house, it was like a high school reunion thingy..even Pn June went! wow..

To list the ones we met that I remembered...Agan, Jonnathan Inggit, Melvin, Hazwan, Tim, Bertram, Darrel, BrenChin, Jason Chang, Samuel Wong, etc..too many to remember!! *paiseh*

Sorry to those that I failed to mention...*sorry*

At Abang Izat's house, I was rendered speechless. So grand!!!! when I have a house of my own, I want a tv room EXACTLY like his. and his cakes and cookies are to die for! Especially the chocolate cheese cake...Have to bribe the recipe out of him...Azalina's chocolate cake was also delicious! *sigh* I think I put on at least 5 kg...have to do extra exercise to get rid of the excess fat..dahlah I so gemuk..cis...

Oh ya, calista came back for raya, an she didn't even let us know til we're at Azie's house...Cal, if you're reading this, must call us next time ar.. are some photo's for you guys =)
