20 Things I Have Learnt and Experienced in the Month of July

Went on a little journey of self discovery in the past month, been through so many experiences, that it's hard to realise that it has only been one month.

1. Long distance does work, but ONLY if both parties take the time and effort to make it work. If one other party gives up easily, then he/she is most probably not worth it anyway, seeing as how they are so willing to let it fail and not try.

2. Communication is IMPORTANT. Regardless of whichever relationship it is, with your family, boy/girlfriend, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, etc. When you are upset, unhappy about something, or feel uncomfortable about something the other party did, TALK about it. Don't keep it to yourself, or use the excuse that you don't feel comfortable talking about the problems, and put it off, until it becomes a BURDEN to you. That's not how relationships should be, regardless of what type of relationship it is.

3. Went for a Karaoke session with my mates, before Kyra leaves for KL and starts work with Marcus Evans :D It was a superb 5 hours session, with most of us singing our heads off till our throats were parched, and had to take breathers. One tip, when you go for karaoke, you MUST sing Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" :D

4. Bring a box of Strepsils if you want to go for karaoke. Trust me, you'll need it. Oh and don't wear a skirt if possible. Makes it harder to jump around :p

5. The highlight of July would be that I was matchmaked with a MODEL. The fact that the model is my friend is not relevant, because I am deemed pretty enough to be paired with a MODEL *perasan* :p haha

6. Beach trips are always fun, because you get to swim in the sea, build sandcastles, and hang out with the really cool people in your life ^^ Of course, having the chance to see some cute angmos with six packs are important too..but I didn't get to see any when I went there last week T_T

7. Seafood dinners are an indulgence. Granted they're expensive, but when you're in the company of great people, you look past the cost, and just sit back and enjoy the delectable dishes put before you. Oh, and coconut juice should come chilled. XD

8. SPF 50 sunblock is useless, so don't waste money buying them. I still have sunburnt skin, and only recently bought aloe vera for it. I think using an umbrella would be more prudent if you have lousy sunblock :P In any case, just bring an umbrella :D

9. Koko Krunch tastes great with cold milk. It also tastes great on its own, or if you gulp down Vanilla Coke after munching on it :D

10. I've finally finished uni, after slogging through it for three years, and the working world scares me. lol this might be irrelevant, but the thought just popped into my head, so I wrote it down anyway..

11. Make sure you have access to the Internet on the day your results come out. It will save you the anxiety of waiting for the results the entire day.

12. Friends who genuinely care for you will never hesitate to lend you that shoulder to cry on, the ear to listen to, and say the words you want to hear. Of course, they say words you don't want to hear as well, but that's what having friends are for. They tell you what you want and don't want to hear, even if it means you'll hate them for it (if only for a little while) ;)

13. Don't only blame the other party for the bad things that has happened. Look back on your own behaviour as well, because sometimes, it is your own behaviour that triggered it. So look back, learn from it, and move on.

14. KL is a very hazy place. Kinda makes me scared to work there cos afraid will get lung complications :p

15. Melaka is lovely, and small, and even though the satay celup that I tried wasn't that great, to be able to have it with my sailou is a great experience, because it's not the food that makes it awesome, it's the company :)

16. Going to Ipoh was one of the better decisions I made, considering the circumstances leading up to it and the super akward ride up. This is because, Ipoh is a lovely place (but I still din manage to go to Nasmir -.-"), but also because of the awesome welcome I got there from old friends, and the friendliness of the new people I met there. I foresee a lifetime worth of friendships :D

17. Spending time with family and friends is the best antidote for heartache and melancholy.

18. Gossiping about a certain someone with Jas is the best, cos we can just kutuk that person anyhow we want to, and know that NONE of it will reach the particular person XD

19. All those cliche quotes and statements about breakup and heartache are only true if you let them be. You might feel sad because there was once something beautiful there, but you must also be realistic and realise that it's not there anymore. Tell yourself you can do it, and move on. Easier said than done, but you know that whatever doesn't break you will only make you stronger. Be brave.

20. Daddy sometimes doesn't really know the right words to say, but just his presence there to comfort me makes all the difference in the world.
