my years in Swinburne

This is dedicated to all my friends in university who have finished their studies, as well as those who will finish their studies soon :)

take care all!!!! and I will miss you all very very dearly :'(

~~~
When I entered uni, I thought I knew
what I was getting myself into
I never knew it would be different,
something totally new.
There were lectures, tutorials and assignments
All usually bundled up in a series of weeks
You had to be careful to arrange your time
Otherwise you'll find yourself suffering and weak.
Not forgetting the club activities
that you had to organise
Including all those sleepless nights
you have to sacrifice
liaising with lecturers,
external help and students
You had to tread carefully,
One wrong step and you'll get burned
It was tough and hard to handle at times
you never knew when you might break down
the pain and hardship are part and parcel of life
you had to endure it, make sure you don't drown
But there were also times
where you know you will pull through
because you know you have friends
who will always be there for you
Uni life is made interesting and bearable
from friends who are your beacon of light
they are your pillar of support and strength
supporting you when you wanted to give up the fight
Throughout my three long years in Swinburne
I've realised that this is what uni memories are made up of
they're about experiences, and learning from mistakes
not only about lectures, tutorials and classes
But most importantly they are about
friends you have met along the way
whom you know you will treasure
forever and a day
As I bid farewell to my university years
I shed a tear knowing I will never experience it again
the place where I have toiled and had sleepless nights
where I had nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain
And so I smile and embrace my future
Knowing the best is yet to come
I am opening up another chapter in my life
facing it with courage, self-confidence, and aplomb
Dragon Whiskers, Fried Ice Cream, and the awfully hot weather
Went to Kuching Fest with me mates just now, seems like the Fest this year a bit potong stim lo, not much people wan. Maybe there are less people this year because of the h1n1 scare...so ppl are afraid to get out to crowded areas :/
We went around 7pm, and usually by that time there will be throngs and throngs of people, walking around, squeezing here and there, trying to buy the food that they like, pushing and stamping their territory on the available benches and tables..but this time around, it's like, still so empty, and the food stalls all macam only have finger foods..Of course, there were still some of those Thai food stalls, with fried rice, tom yam stuff, and barbeque seafood..but they charge exorbitant prices, and sometimes it's just not that worth it to purchase the items at super high prices, when you can get it for a lot less during the non-festive season..
But of course, that's just the calculative person in me speaking lah..everyone knows that when you come for things like this, you have to be prepared to pay the high prices. It's all part of the festive collateral damage :p hehe..
So what was there to do at Kuching Fest?? there were shows by an elderly choir, some kids, and roadshows by rice companies, car companies, credit car companies, insurance companies, also those companies which do direct selling, selling you those easy to use contraptions that can only be found in those tv advertisements...lol I forgot what you call them...those episodes that sell things online, with those 1-800 numbers that will save you lots of money if you CALL RIGHT NOW.. XD
dengan kawan-kawan from my wushu days :)
There were also some flower exhibitions, but this year was very minimal..dunno ler, maybe they were trying to cut cost? So sad, there was only one orchid shop...and there are only purple and white orchids, not much of a variety....
Actually supposed to have a small pond in front of us, but sha din take that :p
I wanted to take lots and lots and lots of pictures, but no one wanted to take them with me...so potong stim lor...next time must ajak tiing and jerome out, they the ones paling suka ai take pics wan, so at least I can have those memories with me, and take them out during cold rainy nights, and reminisce through them about the times when I was still young, and happy without a care in the world (lol, it's my old granny voice talking..hehe)
Me on the swing, in one of what I think is the last usable playground in Kuching :p
Oh yes, with regards to my title lah..hehe...we ate Fried Ice cream ( I got chocolate, Ron and Sha both got Vanilla), I bought dragon whiskers sweet for my adik at home (but in the end I ate more than half of it :p), and the weather so hot, there was no cool breeze at all :( so we were all sweaty and panas, and decided to leave a little earlier than planned XD
lol, thus ends my post for the day ^^ It was a great event lah, to be able to go out and have fun with my friends, letting my hair down, and being crazy a little, in light of the things I have experienced lately ^^
So everyone, thanks so much!!!!!!! *hugs*
20 Things I Have Learnt and Experienced in the Month of July
Went on a little journey of self discovery in the past month, been through so many experiences, that it's hard to realise that it has only been one month.
1. Long distance does work, but ONLY if both parties take the time and effort to make it work. If one other party gives up easily, then he/she is most probably not worth it anyway, seeing as how they are so willing to let it fail and not try.
2. Communication is IMPORTANT. Regardless of whichever relationship it is, with your family, boy/girlfriend, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, etc. When you are upset, unhappy about something, or feel uncomfortable about something the other party did, TALK about it. Don't keep it to yourself, or use the excuse that you don't feel comfortable talking about the problems, and put it off, until it becomes a BURDEN to you. That's not how relationships should be, regardless of what type of relationship it is.
3. Went for a Karaoke session with my mates, before Kyra leaves for KL and starts work with Marcus Evans :D It was a superb 5 hours session, with most of us singing our heads off till our throats were parched, and had to take breathers. One tip, when you go for karaoke, you MUST sing Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" :D
4. Bring a box of Strepsils if you want to go for karaoke. Trust me, you'll need it. Oh and don't wear a skirt if possible. Makes it harder to jump around :p
5. The highlight of July would be that I was matchmaked with a MODEL. The fact that the model is my friend is not relevant, because I am deemed pretty enough to be paired with a MODEL *perasan* :p haha
6. Beach trips are always fun, because you get to swim in the sea, build sandcastles, and hang out with the really cool people in your life ^^ Of course, having the chance to see some cute angmos with six packs are important too..but I didn't get to see any when I went there last week T_T
7. Seafood dinners are an indulgence. Granted they're expensive, but when you're in the company of great people, you look past the cost, and just sit back and enjoy the delectable dishes put before you. Oh, and coconut juice should come chilled. XD
8. SPF 50 sunblock is useless, so don't waste money buying them. I still have sunburnt skin, and only recently bought aloe vera for it. I think using an umbrella would be more prudent if you have lousy sunblock :P In any case, just bring an umbrella :D
9. Koko Krunch tastes great with cold milk. It also tastes great on its own, or if you gulp down Vanilla Coke after munching on it :D
10. I've finally finished uni, after slogging through it for three years, and the working world scares me. lol this might be irrelevant, but the thought just popped into my head, so I wrote it down anyway..
11. Make sure you have access to the Internet on the day your results come out. It will save you the anxiety of waiting for the results the entire day.
12. Friends who genuinely care for you will never hesitate to lend you that shoulder to cry on, the ear to listen to, and say the words you want to hear. Of course, they say words you don't want to hear as well, but that's what having friends are for. They tell you what you want and don't want to hear, even if it means you'll hate them for it (if only for a little while) ;)
13. Don't only blame the other party for the bad things that has happened. Look back on your own behaviour as well, because sometimes, it is your own behaviour that triggered it. So look back, learn from it, and move on.
14. KL is a very hazy place. Kinda makes me scared to work there cos afraid will get lung complications :p
15. Melaka is lovely, and small, and even though the satay celup that I tried wasn't that great, to be able to have it with my sailou is a great experience, because it's not the food that makes it awesome, it's the company :)
16. Going to Ipoh was one of the better decisions I made, considering the circumstances leading up to it and the super akward ride up. This is because, Ipoh is a lovely place (but I still din manage to go to Nasmir -.-"), but also because of the awesome welcome I got there from old friends, and the friendliness of the new people I met there. I foresee a lifetime worth of friendships :D
17. Spending time with family and friends is the best antidote for heartache and melancholy.
18. Gossiping about a certain someone with Jas is the best, cos we can just kutuk that person anyhow we want to, and know that NONE of it will reach the particular person XD
19. All those cliche quotes and statements about breakup and heartache are only true if you let them be. You might feel sad because there was once something beautiful there, but you must also be realistic and realise that it's not there anymore. Tell yourself you can do it, and move on. Easier said than done, but you know that whatever doesn't break you will only make you stronger. Be brave.
20. Daddy sometimes doesn't really know the right words to say, but just his presence there to comfort me makes all the difference in the world.
