Review: Facekara @ VIVA Home

Last Saturday, thanks to MyCoupon I had an opportunity to review Facekara, a Karaoke Centre located at VIVA Home, on Jalan Loke Yew. I was pretty impressed with it the first time I was there late last year, so when bb asked if I want to do a review on this particular centre, I was quite excited. After all, I get to sing, and enjoy myself, so why not? :D

What I liked about Facekara was the look and feel of the place.Although they're pretty new in the industry, I must say that they have outdone themselves. Everything within the Facekara vicinity was set up and things started running in just one month of it's inception.

The Lounge, which can fit up to 100 pax

So what have I to say about Facekara?

Ambience & Decoration: two thumbs up :) Though it's a karaoke joint, it doesn't smell of a typical karaoke centre. There was none of the smokey ambience that mostly befits centres of the sort, unlike some that I will decline to name. The decoration was pretty done up, with each room featuring different motifs, and different settings for groups of varying sizes. There were VVIP rooms, VIP rooms, normal rooms, large rooms, and even a lounge that can cater for up to 100 pax! (On Thursday nights from 6pm to 12am, the lounge is open for ladies to sing, with free flow of beverages, so ladies, if you're a singer, be sure to check Facekara out on Thursday nights! :))

Reception area.

According to their Operations Manager, Mr. Albert Goh, their tagline is "Broadcast you to the World" because they have a special video recording feature where you can record yourself singing via a webcam that is available in every single room. This video will be kept in their server, and as a Facekara member, you will be able to access this video from your own home. They also have a special feature where you can share the video of you singing on facebook, or any other social media site. Hence, they are broadcasting you to the world. How cool is that?

Food: The food was delicious! :D Couldn't keep my hands off the french fries. I even wanted to order an extra side dish of fries but bb said no more :( If Tammy was there with me, she would have said yes! Having said that, Facekara has a variety of food to choose from, and you would be spoilt for choice.

No caption necessary xD

One special thing about Facekara that I find was that they have Lunch sets, Happy Hour sets, and Dinner sets. Their sets are as follows:

11am - 2pm: K-Lunch Set
2pm - 6pm: Crasing Hour
6pm - 9pm: K-Dinner Set

You can choose from many different types of menu, and you get to enjoy a variety of drinks, from alcoholic, to non-alcoholic beverages, all up to you :) Definitely no complaints from me on this part :D

Package Offerings: There are many many different package offerings that they offer for different times of the day, but for me I would think that the K-Lunch/ K-Dinner would be the most value-for-money one with prices that start at just RM9.90, for which you will get a meal, and one drink. Pretty good deal for me, since the food is good, and I get to enjoy myself :D

Yeeing and Qian Qian enjoying themselves :p

Songs: Sad to say, the list of songs are not comprehensive enough :( Quite a number of songs that we thought would be in the system were not there, and some pages of famous artists only have three or four of their famous hits, and that's it. But nevertheless, there was an extensive selection of songs available (some of which I have never heard before), so if you're not picky, you would enjoy yourself singing ballads to rock tunes to alternative rock, punk metal (can you sing that?), or even some country and oldies :)

btw, the screen is a touch screen panel

One of my favourite karaoke songs when I were to go out with Tammy would definitely have to be It's My Life by Bon Jovi, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and lately, What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction :p

I could tell the bloggers who went had fun that night :D

Kelvin singing his heart out

Location: Situated at Jalan Loke Yew in what used to be called Menara UE3, I would say it's a pretty strategic location, given that you will definitely not miss it if you were on Jalan Loke Yew heading either into the city or out. The only challenge I find is the parking -.-" But that's beyond our control, so....no comment :p

Can you guess what song they're singing to? :p

So all in all, I would say it was a pretty good night out for us bloggers. We had fun, we sang our hearts out, and we loved every minute of it :D Granted there are still things that they can improve on, but given the amount of time that they have been in the business, it was pretty impressive.
