Malones Irish Restaurant & Bar @ Jaya One

Malones Irish Restaurant & Bar recently launched its fifth outlet at Jaya One. Established since 2009, Malones offers a delightful menu filled with an array of authentic Irish specialties to their very own Chefs’ creation and the bar has a variety of creamy thirst quenching drafts to choose from. Malones is all about fun, letting loose, just being ‘you’; enjoying individuality with friends and family.

This outlet is strategic, and is located in the well-established commercial district of Section 14. This is one of the most happening part of Petaling Jaya, and will be the only outlet that features a wide selection of new pork dishes such as Traditional Crackling Pork Belly, Grilled Pork Liempo, BBQ Pork Ribs, Pork Knuckle, and lots more.

So what did we have at Malones?

Porky Platter RM37.90

As our Appetizer, we were served with the Porky Platter. This platter easily serves two of three pax, and features Traditional Crackling Pork Belly, BBQ Ribs and Pigs in Blanket. Served with shallot vinegar, BBQ sauce and mustard. Their BBQ ribs are simply fall-off-the-bone delectable, and their crackling Pork Belly tastes heavenly when coupled with the shallot vinegar.

I would recommend this appetizer for those who loves pork, as you wouldn't be disappointed :D It just makes you keep wanting more.

Paddy Steak Sandwich RM28.90

This is an Irish style steak sandwich, served with poached egg and mustard spread with deep fried sliced russet potatoes on the side. I liked the serving of this dish as they didn't have the extra layer of bread on top, as how standard sandwiches do. Therefore, there was just the right amount of bread, and the juicy steak combined with the egg makes it delectable.

Irish Sausages on Colcannon and Guinness Onion Gravy RM29.90

This dish has grilled pork sausages served with Guinness onion gravy and Colcannon (cabbage and spring onion mash). This was my first introduction to Malones' onion mashed potatoes, and I fell in love with it instantly! When coupled with the onion gravy, there was just the right amount of plain saltiness. The sausages were sweet to the taste as well, and I could taste the distinct Guinness taste :)

Irish Seafood Pasta RM27.90

It might look plain and normal, but this dish with prawns, clams and dory cubes tossed with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, white wine and chili flakes really got my attention! The taste wasn't overly overpowering, and the seafood was super fresh. It wasn't overcooked, and retained its juiciness without having the raw taste that most seafood have when it's not fresh anymore.

Pork Knuckle RM39.90

As best to my knowledge, most bars will have Pork Knuckles cos it goes very well with beer. Not too sure how true it is, because for me, Pork Knuckle goes well is anything! On top of that, the Pork Knuckles that we were served came with the onion mash, which made me happy!!

This is Malones' Traditional German Style knuckle marinated in beer and brined for a day. This is served perfectly tender and juicy with mashed potatoes and special brown sauce, and has an estimated cooking time of 25 minutes. Not too bad a dish, but perhaps it was a little overcooked as the skin was hard and the meat wasn't too juicy as well. But if you were to couple it with the mashed potatoes, they go well together as the softness of the mashed potatoes will converge with the meat, making it a good eating experience.

BBQ Ribs (Half), RM24.90

As per my first picture, these BBQ ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy! They come in full or half rack, and these baby back pork ribs are slow cooked until fall-off-the-bone tender. Served with BBQ sauce, chips and coleslaw.

BBQ Ribs (Full) RM49.90

This dish is definitely not something you would eat on your own as it is best to share all round the table with loved ones!! When dipped into the BBQ sauce, you can taste the slightly burnt taste of the ribs, and that adds to your gastronomic eating experience :D

Guinness Beef Stew RM29.90

Lastly, we had the Guinness Beef Stew whereby it is seared beef cubes stewed in Guinness and root vegetables for 4 hours. This is also served with slices of Tuscan bread. The beef wasn't too soft, neither was it too hard, so it was a pleasant eating experience. The sauce wasn't too salty, and they had a generous amount of celery, which for me, makes for a really good stew~!

Apart from these offerings, Malones Jaya One also has a weekdays set lunch (11am- 3pm), offering its patrons some great food selections at value-for-money prices (Soup + Entrée + IceLemon Tea from RM12.90++ onwards).

Malones also has 4 other outlets located at Suria KLCC, Sooka Sentral, Pavillion KL and The Curve.
