Review: Sleek I Divine Original Eyeshadow

So truth be told, I have never heard of the Sleek brand before, until Joanna introduced me to it :p Looking at the price and the colours, I decided to take the plunge and got the Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow in Original :) This palette costs RM42.50 for twelve super pigmented colours. The original price is RM50, but cos it was our first time buying from Luxola with Joanna's account, we got a 15% discount plus free shipping!

So this is how the palette looks like,  it's not very small, and not very big either, but I think it's pretty worth it, cos other brands out there will give you three or four colours for about the same price, but with this one you get 12 colours!

This is how big the palette is, compared to my hand, so you can gauge how big/ small it is. What I like about this palette that grabbed my attention was how sleek it looked. It is compact, and travel sized to enable me to carry it anywhere.

I like the casing, with the engraved cover. What I like the most is the matte finish :)

A list of the ingredients in the make up, if you're wondering what the 12M means in the small bottle, it means that you should discard the makeup 12 months after first use.

What I like about this palette is that it has a very wide variety of colours, from blue to green, to pink, purple, and neutral shades. You can mix and match the colours whichever way you like, and always try new combinations for every occasion. Basically, ONE PALETTE TO RULE THEM ALL! *forgive the pun* hehehe

According to the website, the shades are high-quality, super-pigmented shades, suitable to every skin tone. I took some swatches to compare, and this is what I've come up with. Unfortunately, there are no names that were provided for the shades, so I guess I will just have to go with my own made up names, going left to right, row by row :)

The swatches taken without flash

  1. Matte Black: This is the only matte shade in the whole palette, and is super-pigmented (duh). I used a little, and was amazed at the colour that appeared on my eyelids.
  2. Purple: This is the only purple colour in the entire palette, and is versatile enough to be used on its own, or blended with a little of the Matte black colour to make it dark purple. Usef on its own, it has a shimmery pearl finish. After using it, there's minimal fallout.
  3. Dark Blue: This is the darkest blue shade of the lot, which can be used when you want to create some gradient if you want to create smokey eyes.
  4. Blue: This shade has a turquoise-like colour when applied, it might look very bright in the palette, but once applied, it looks really nice :) Pearl finish, with minimal fallout
  5. Aqua: In the palette it has a nice green shade, which reminds me of the sea back at my hometown. Once you apply it, it turns into a beautiful shade with hints of blue. It has a pearl finish, and has minimal fallout
  6. Forest Green: A must have in green palettes, this colour blends well as a lighter colour for the inner corners of your eyes, and the Matte Black for the outer corners. If you're wondering what i'm talking about, you can check out the picture here *click*
  7. Champagne: This is a light gold shade that can be used to highlight the inner corners of your eyes, as well as on the lashline on the bottom inner corners. However, when I used it earlier, it wasn't very pigmented for me, so I used another colour instead. Shimmery finish, medium fallout
  8. Pink: this colour will actually fit those with a lighter skin tone, as it doesn't really show when I wanted to use it. In the end, I switched to Peach instead. Shimmery pearl finish, minimum fallout
  9. Peach: A darker shade than the pink shade, I used this shade earlier (pic below) for the inner corners of my eyes. It was pigmented, and light at the same time, which didn't make my makeup too heavy. Shimmery pearl finish, minimum fallout
  10. Copper: This colour is super-pigmented, and I mix it with the dark-gold colour to create a neutral smokey eyed look. It has a beautiful shimmer, and shows up especially well with a primer
  11. Dark Gold: This colour is intensely pigmented, with medium fallout. This colour would be more suitable to use on the outer corners of the eyes and blended with the copper colour to create that much-desired smokey eyed effect. It can also be used to line the lower lash line as opposed to black for a more natural finish.
  12. Olive: True olive colour, I use this on the middle of my lids towards the outer corners and blend it with the forest green shade. It has a pearl finish and minimal fallout.

To give you guys an estimation of how some of the colours turned out, here's a look that I used the palette with when I went to the Guinness St Patrick's Day launch at Changkat earlier.

*forgive the noob face*

I used Champagne, Peach, Matte Black, and Aqua. I love how I can just mix and match any of the colours in this palette without having to reach for another eyeshadow palette. Peach because I was wearing a pink toned dress, and green cause it's Guinness' colour! What I did was, I applied peach on my whole eyelid, and champagne on the inner corners of my eyes, both above, and below. I then blended the peach colour with aqua on the outer corners of my eyes, and mixed in a little bit of matte black on the far outer corners :)

It's not a heavy look, and due to the poor lighting and phone-camera, you can't really see the pigmentation here :/

Here's the finished look with my eyes open :p I really liked the effect, cos it was very natural, and not too heavy until it's over the top

So le bb and I went for the event, and came back after four hours. Here's how my make up looks like after four hours. As you can see, there is little to no creasing (I used a primer for this), and the colour is still as intense (hard to see under the lousy lighting) as ever. Lol I think it looks better after rather than before >.< hahaha

If you noticed, my face was a little oily after those four hours, and I was glad that the eyeshadow doesn't even crease (as compared to my other shadows). This is a real plus point for me.

 After four hours

Rating: 4.5/5

Repurchase: Yes

Overall feeling: I was really satisfied that I got this palette instead of the other Sleek palette that I was eyeing (can't remember which one). It has all the colours I want, and I don't have to look at other brands when I'm out shopping. The colours blend will with each other, and are super-pigmented, which makes me use less of the product, which will make it last longer. What more value for money can you ask for? :)

Luxola is the only online shop at the moment that I can find Sleek products, and I think it's great that they have it. Though this is my first time trying it out, I am already sold on Sleek products, and will definitely buy more from Luxola when they have sales :D

Sleek, you're doing it right :)
