Movie Review: G.I. Joe Retaliation 3D (2013)

The Joes are back!

If you've been living under a shell this year, it's probably time to get out of it :p If you followed the first installment of the G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, then you should probably catch this one too :)

Synopsis:
A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO, commenced the di Bonaventura production of G.I. JOE: RETALIATION.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

Synopsis a little bad for you? Maybe a trailer will help :D

(spoilers ahead)
Verdict: 6.5/10. Similar to the previous installment, the storyline for this particular movie is not as strong as I would have liked. The fighting scenes are ok though, and I like the one in the mountains in particular. Quite a few plotholes, but then again, the first one had quite a lot as well. Like, how did Storm Shadow suddenly figure out that Zartan was the one that killed his grandmaster? There was no explanation whatsoever, just by mentioning he is a master of disguise, and suddenly he figures it out? Hmmm... Also, I felt that Zartan's death was a little too easy.

The 3D effect wasn't good enough for me, and I didn't want Channing Tatum to die :( I would have loved to have Joseph Gordon Levitt back as Cobra Commander, and it would be good if he showed his face just a little, but sadly no :(

All in all, if you are someone who wants to watch just action, this might be able to satisfy you a little bit. But if you want a stronger storyline, then I suggest maybe skip this altogether. But hey, that's just my opinion.

*Thanks to Nuffnang and Churp2 for the premiere screening tickets :D

I was so damn surprised and sad too that Channing Tatum died so fast in the movie. But then, I was entertained with Storm Shadow hot body. Hehehe.. But still, G.I. Joe not really a good movie for this year. I think the Croods much more better than this.

I thought Channing Tatum will revive after that. T^T

I like the mountain ninja scene too. And I also agree that Zartan died so easily since he can heal when cut... tsk.
