The Lilac Box 2 (March Edition)

My blind date is here!!!!!

Got home from the super duper hot 5th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Putrajaya last Saturday, and saw a package lying on the living room coffee table for me :) le housemate was kind enough to sign for me, and at first was blur as I didn't order anything that would be arriving at home on a Saturday.

Opened it up and it was from The Lilac Box!!!! Super excited max (lol talking like a bimbo now but I don't care :p)!!!!! Held it up and was quite surprised by the weight. It is HEAVY. Made me wonder what they had inside that was so heavy, and didn't have long to find out :D

And so, the unboxing begins. The box is a brown box, much like what you can get at any specialty store selling stuff like these. It is solid and strong, and you could see that it can stand the test of time. It's great that the packaging didn't have any brand emblazoned on it as well, so you can reuse it if you need a gift box for someone and didn't have time to go out and get it. I liked how they used soft paper and grass (not really la, but I'm not sure what sorta string it is) string to wrap up the products, it gives a really vintage and earthy  feel to things.

Ta-da!!!!! The long awaited contents of the box. At first sight, I counted six products. But actually there were eight! Complete list of products below:

1. Calvin Klein Beauty (perfume vial, 1.2ml)
2. Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty (perfume vial, 1.2ml)
3. Redken Intra Force Shampoo (145 ml)
4. Redken Intra Force Conditioner (145 ml)
5. Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse (10ml)
6. Nuxe Rêve de Miel Cleansing Gel (15 ml)
7. Lunasol Skin Modeling Powder Foundation (sample size, 0.6g)
8. Smoothing Makeup Base (two packets, 1g each)

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Cleansing Gel, Cleansing and Make up remover gel (15 ml)

First up is the Nuxe Rêve de Miel Cleansing Gel. This soap-free gel is enriched with Honey and Sunflowers, gently removes make-up while cleansing and soothing the face in a single step. A treat for the senses that leaves the skin feeling impeccably clean. Suitable for all skin types especially sensitive skin.

Tried it the moment I got it as I had to remove my make up, so wanted to try it and see how it felt. Sadly, it doesn't really remove my make up as I could still see my eyeliner marks :( But as a cleanser it's pretty good. It doesn't dry out the skin, so this is a plus point for me.

Left: Redken Intra Force Conditioner (145 ml)
Right: Redken Intra Force Shampoo (145 ml)

Products 2 and 3 are from Redken, initially I thought they were full sizes, but actually they are larger than average sample sizes? haha The actual full sizes are taller than these.

The Intra Force range is a clinically proven defense against thinning hair. It has a three-step system that combats the key causes of hair thinning. There are two customisable systems, which are for natural thinning hair, and colour treated thinning hair. I got the latter, and was a little sad that I didn't have coloured hair, so it would be a little useless for me. BUT, on hindsight, it should be a softer and more delicate formula for hair, so it would be ok for me to use it, no?

I just tried it earlier when I took my shower, and I LOVE IT!!!! It has a pleasing scent, kinda like mint, and after using it, it leaves of a cooling effect, which was made all the more awesome cos I was having a hot shower, so soothing!!!! The conditioner was good as well, I could feel that my hair was softer after using it, so it's a definite plus point for me! Not sure if you would consider that I have thinning hair but I do suffer from heavy hairfall, cos of my super duper long hair (not duper la, but this is the longest I've had since my school days), so let's see if this works at the end of one month, shall we?

Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse (10ml)

Next up, the Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse. A cult favourite of many women and celebrities, this multi-usage oil is nourishing yet easily absorbed for face, body and hair. Made with 30% concentration of Precious Plant Oils and Vitamin E. This formula contains ingredients of 98.1% natural origin. Silicone and paraben free.

Directions for use: For face, warm up a few drops on palms and apply directly in place of cream. For hair, apply directly onto dry hair lengths and ends as a hair mask for 10 minutes before shampoo. For body, apply liberally in place of your body lotion. For bath, add a few drops to your bath water for an irresistible sensual treatment.

Personally,  I'm not entirely sure what I should use this for. It is stated that I can use it for any part of my body, so I'm pretty much spoilt for choice, right? :p But I've always had this thing with oils, they're a little too slick and oily (duh) for my liking, and I don't like the oily residue left behind, kinda feels like oily hands after cooking that you get if you don't wash your hands properly. So, I might use this as a hair mask instead. Let's see how it goes :D

Left: Smoothing Makeup Base (two packets, 1g each)
Right: Lunasol Skin Fusing (aka Modeling) Powder Foundation (sample size, 0.6g)

Lunasol has been around for longer than I can remember, and I thought I had missed out on receiving a product like this cos I saw a lot of other boxes have already given this to their subscribers. But I got it in this box, so I'm a happy girl :)

Lunasol's foundation can achieve a finish that seems like it has become your skin, leaving it translucent and lustrous without becoming cakey at all. It envelopes skin to smooth out visible pores, and uneven surfaces. It is resistant to perspiration and sebum, and maintains the same refined finish as when first applied even after many hours.

The make up base fills visible pores and uneven surfaces with a creamy texture and creates an even film over the skin to leave it silky smooth. When foundation is applied over it, the make up base adheres snugly to the skin without smearing. It absorbs perspiration and sebum, and has the same non-greasy texture as when first applied and lasts for many hours.

I will be trying out the foundation tomorrow night as I will be attending an event in town, so will see if I can post up a review about these products soon :D

Calvin Klein Beauty and Sheer Beauty (perfume vial, 1.2ml)

They were wrapped together, which was why I thought there was only one perfume vial. Undid the ribbon, and one became two! :D

Abit sad that they're not full, but better than nothing :p

CK Beauty:
Calvin Klein Beauty evokes the ultimate power of femininity and sophistication, while capturing the spirit of a woman who is beautiful from the inside out, with an aura that radiates.

CK Sheer Beauty:
Calvin Klein Sheer BEAUTY is sparkling and carefree with a pure, sexy confidence. The fragrance evokes the sensuality and delicacy of bare skin with its luminous floralcy and skin-like warmth.

I love both of them!! I have a feeling I might go on a second date with either one of this :p
Beauty has a stronger scent than Sheer Beauty, but after having it on for a while, Sheer Beauty has a more feminine scent that I like :D

Verdict:
All in all, Thelilacbox created a lot of hype for their Box 2, and I'm glad that they managed to deliver. I loved all the products in the box, and it's good that I could use everything in it. Secondly, for a price of RM49.90, I would think that this is worth it, considering you get not only 5-6 products as normal beauty boxes give out, but 8 products. Not bad for a box that claims they only give out premium brands for that blind date experience.

Looking at the stuff in this box, I think I might subscribe for the April box, but how much it is will be anybody's guess. Their debut box costed RM39.90, and their box 2 was RM49.90. If the price is raised much higher, I don't think I would subscribe, but for RM49.90 (after all, it is already kinda steep), I wouldn't mind giving it a try for their April box.

Hope you guys loved my review of this month's Lilac Box! There will be some more reviews coming up about other boxes that I have yet to receive (thanks to sponsors), but do watch this space as I will bring them to you the moment I get them!

xoxo,
yin

Yea, that's what makes them so sought after. Even though it's RM50, but the products they give are good :)
