Movie Review: Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

Thanks to Nuffnang and Churp Churp I got to catch the latest installment of the Fast & Furious franchise :) Seems like I'm watching more installments nowadays, from Ironman 3 to Star Trek Into Darkness, and now this :p

Synopsis: Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam has left their lives incomplete. Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Verdict: 6/10. It was not bad for a fast-paced movie. If you're a fan of fast cars, you would maybe like this a little. If I have to be really strict about it, the stunt scenes can be done a little better. And I still find the thing about "throwing yourself out of a car into the unknown to catch the woman you love thing" a little overrated. The end of the storyline is pretty predictable (yup, I guessed right about the villain's associate) and the ending goes to show there will definitely be a Fast 7 coming right up, though I'm not too sure if they should have made it that way cos the timeline wouldn't connect.

Some superman action halfway into the movie, this part was quite nice
I quite liked the comedic lines infused throughout the movie, but some might say that it's a little overrated :p Well, I'm a funny girl who appreciates a laugh :p There were quite a lot of parts cut out from the movie, but I didn't think it made much of a difference.

A little guide on the cars featured in Fast 6

Not sure if I will recommend this over watching "epic" over the weekend when it comes out on 23 May, but I would say that it's a pretty entertaining watch if you have no expectations. Truth be told, I went in with the thought that I wouldn't enjoy it at all, and I came out feeling a little entertained, but still wondering about the logical thread of the movie (yup, there were plotholes everywhere) :p

I think if you want a more critical view of the movie (and for those who watched all the Fast installments before), you can hop on to le bb's review here *click*

till then, adios!
