Movie Review: Elysium (2013)

It's been a week of movies and this is my third movie this week! *phew*

Special thanks to Nuffnang, I got to catch the premiere screening of Matt Damon's latest movie, Elysium :)

Synopsis: In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt, a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Verdict: 5/10. If a movie got an even lower rating than City of Bones, you would know it's bad. Seriously, this was a movie that I watched that I thought was a complete waste of time. Though the concept was good, the storyline was predictable and there was no suspense.

Character development wasn't good enough. There was nothing compelling about the protagonist that makes you want to root for him, neither was there anything about the antagonist that makes you want to see him defeated. Jodie Foster, though she delivered a good performance, had a redundant role that died off TOO easily that made her look stupid.

All in all, this would not be a movie I would recommend you to watch in the cinemas. End of story.

Til the next time, stay beautiful!
