Event: Zalora introduces new British brands during GREAT campaign

Following a successful GREAT campaign in Malaysia last year, more British companies are looking at business opportunities in this dynamic country with a fast-growing economy. This year, 18 British brands have joined the trade mission to Kuala Lumpur and will also explore the market opportunities in neighbouring Singapore.

Besides the retail and food and drink sectors, this year’s campaign will also include the experience economy sector, which focuses on the leisure industry such as themed attractions, museums, water parks and zoos.

UK Minister Grant Shapps, who launched the GREAT Week at the British High Commissioner’s residence here today said:

“I am delighted to be returning to Southeast Asia to promote the GREAT Week. When I was here earlier this year, it was clear that the UK enjoys a very close relationship with the countries in this region, which is increasingly important to boost our bilateral trade.

It is heartening to see so many new British brands entering this growth market such as Hamleys that has opened their first Southeast Asia store in Kuala Lumpur, as well as Modalu England and Newens Tea House. I hope this GREAT week results in more British brands doing likewise.”

LOLA SKYE - Crochet Layered Skater Dress RM 143.20

The event also saw the introduction of several new British brands that have recently set up in the Malaysian market. Some of the notable British brands include fashion labels Lola Skye, New Look and River Island, which are exclusively available on ZALORA.com.my. ZALORA presented the three brand’s latest collection on the runway at the event to the fashion media and guests.

Guests also got to sample for the first time in Malaysia the exclusive Maids of Honour tarts by Newens Tea House, which was a personal favourite of England’s King Henry VIII. The historic English brand will open in October its first international location in Kuala Lumpur’s Starhill Gallery.

New Look - Petite Black High Neck Necklace Trim Bodycon Dress RM 129.00, Floral Chiffon Skater Skirt RM 36.00

The Great Shopping Contest with a grand prize of a shopping trip to London will again be the highlight this year, running from 18 September to November 16. Shoppers who spend a minimum of RM250 at participating stores of British brands will be eligible to join the contest. This year, 37 UK retail brands will be running the contest in over 200 stores across Malaysia.

Til the next time, stay beautiful!
