Review: Top 5 tips for a more beautiful you

Hey dearies, how has the first month of the year been treating you? I for one, has been a little tired, considering I was out with the flu a few weeks ago (which is threatening to make a comeback!).
So before my sickness gets the better of me, I'm here to share with you my top 5 tips to a more beautiful you for this year!

I will be featuring some products from the Butterfly Project beauty box I got over Christmas because I've been using them for over a month, and I really love it. You'll see why later :)

So, let's go!

Tip 1: Mask and scrub
I can't stress how important masking and scrubbing (lol) is to me. Personally, I feel that doing masks and scrubs help us a lot, by removing dead skin cells, and to replenish moisture and rehydrate our face. Thanks to the Butterfly Project, I got three new masks to try out, and after using these, I daresay that I will head back again to get some more for myself :) For me, at the very least, mask at least once a month. Personally for me, I try to do it once a week, if not then once every fortnight.

The three masks I got from the beauty box was the Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment, IndeedLabs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask, and Nature Republic's Snail Solution Hydrogel Mask Sheet.

All three masks claim to be able to restore moisture back into your skin, which is something a lot of people can relate to. After hectic days of work (or study), running around getting work done, sometimes all you need is some pampering, and masking is the way to go. I've tried out all three

Some of the masks I have, and Klair's Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish

When it comes to using a scrub, I always fall back to my Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish. You can read more about my review here: *click*

Tip 2: Stay hydrated and moisturised
In our very busy lives going through the hustle and bustle of work and other such stuff, it's very easy to forget an essential part of every day life, and that is to remain hydrated and moisturised. For most of us who work in an office environment, you will understand how easy it is for our hands and face to feel dry from all that air conditioning. Therefore, I have these two essentials in my office. Always21's Aloe Vera Soothing Gel Mist, and L'Occitane's Arlesienne Velvet Hand Cream.

The Gel Mist is a staple for me, because it can really fully moisturise and hydrate my skin after a long and tiring day, and even in between. Because it's small and easy to carry, I usually bring it out with me even when I go meet clients and spray a spritz or two in between meetings to reenergise.

L'Occitane's Velvet hand cream comes in a hand 30ml squeeze tube that can be carried around easily. The one I currently have is the 10ml version :) I love the smell of this hand cream, and it does a really good job of moisturising my hands especially after I have been in air conditioned rooms the whole day.

Tip 3: Care for your locks
If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then your locks is definitely the frame. Luscious locks, coloured to your desired hue, styled to the latest trends, will be the perfect frame to an otherwise already beautiful face.

I use Matrix Biolage's Color Last Shampoo, as I have colour treated hair. This shampoo has the wonderful scent of orchids, which I love, and it leaves my hair smooth and soft. As it is a shampoo formulated specially for coloured hair, it has a gentle formula, and the best part is, it is Paraben free, which earns it an extra gold star from me.

Tip 4: Never forsake your morning and night ritual of cleansing, toning, and moisturising
This is very important for everyone as a good daily ritual can help to prepare our face for the day as well as repair it over night. First of all, if you're someone who uses makeup during the day, be sure to remove all traces of makeup every single time. My favourite remover is Mandom's Bifesta Water Based Make up Remover range. I find that it can effectively remove all traces of my make up, even waterproof ones. Most make up removers in the market now offers a full cleanse where you just have to remove the make up with the remover, and you're ready for bed. But for me, I usually double cleanse, where I will remove my make up with make up remover, and cleanse my face one more time with cleanser, for a deeper clean.

So which products am I using? I use the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free range which I picked up from last year's Kiehl's fun in the sun event. I really love it as it fully hydrates my skin, leaving no sticky residue. If you want to know more about the product, you can read the review here: *click* I have not reviewed Philosophy's Hope in a Jar yet, but I will soon, so stay tuned!

Tip 5: Get enough rest
This is perhaps the most important piece of advice I can give to everyone out there who is reading this. Your body is a machine that needs to be well-oiled for it to operate at optimum efficiency, and how you maintain that is to make sure that you get enough sleep. An average human person needs about 6-7 hours optimum rest every day, and by that I mean, pure uninterrupted sleep where the mind and body can just relax and recuperate. So be sure to catch those zzz's!

Now, of course there may be some out there who would think that these top 5 tips are not right, and that there are other more important tips for a more beautiful you. I would like to maintain that this is my personal opinion of what I think are the top 5 things one should do for radiant skin and a beautiful appearance.
