Review: Butterfly Project 4th Anniversary Product Unboxing

*Warning* Picture filled post ahead!!!

About a month ago, I was privileged to be part of a selected few chosen to celebrate TBP's fourth anniversary. In true TBP style, each of us were given a beauty bag full of products to bring home to try, and it has been fun trying out each and every single one of them.

So many products! Only one face! How to try them all??? Which was why I took a while to go through each one, so here's what I think.

Wanderlust Things Eye Makeup Brush (RM89)

This is one of the products I loved receiving in the bag. Made from the finest unicorn hair with a strong unicorn horn handle, this unicorn brush set would make any girl scream with rainbows! Of course, disclaimer, no unicorns were harmed in the process. *Phew* I was beginning to wonder if they killed 10 unicorns just to get their horns to complete this brush set.

The bristles are soft, and its handle is sturdy. Product pick up was pretty decent, but I think it will be a while before I really get down to using these for real. I want to just keep them hidden away and bring them out to admire once in a while.

Wanderlust Things has quite a few awesome products in their store, and I actually bought the Harry Potter Wand Inspired set of brushes with the code "BUTTERFLY13". If you want to have a look at what else they have to offer, just head over to their website! *click*

W.Lab Pocket Shadow Palette in Blooming (RM90)

Goddess-like shadows created with the beauty of flowers and made with various flower extracts. Let your beauty bloom with this palette of 10 beautiful colours.

And what beautiful colours they are. The colours from this palette are warm nudes, and comes in a mixture of matte, pearlescent and shimmer colours.

From left to right, they are:
Acasia - Shimmer
Cherry Blossom - Shimmer
Begonia - Matte
Moss Rose - Pearlescent
Kaffir Lily - Pearlescent
Calendula - Matte
Freesia - Pearlescent
Mari Gold - Shimmer
Sun Flower - Matte
Pansy - Pearlescent

If you noticed, all these colours are named after flowers, but not all of them reflect the true colour of the flowers.

Swatches of these beautiful colours under articifial light. These are all swatched once, and colours as you can see are pretty pigmented, especially the shimmers. Out of these five, I prefer Acasia the most.

Acasia can be used as a highlighter, as with Cherry Blossom. Begonia would be great as a base, with Moss Rose and Kaffir Lily on the lid.

First five shadows taken using flash. The shimmers are more pronounced here.

Here are the next five, as you can see, Calendula is a little darker than Begonia, and can be used with Sun Flower and Pansy to smoke out the eyes. Transitioning from a day to night look, Mari Gold to highlight the browbone and Freesia to be applied on the crease.

So what do I think of the colours? For someone who uses nude palettes most of the time, these colours are pretty versatile. Though on first sight the colours look more like a warm nude, in actual fact it really isn't. There is a good mix of colours and formulations, so each can be mixed and matched to create the ultimate smokey or neutral look.

In terms of the formulations, the texture is quite pigmented, and applies easily. I have not managed to take it out for a full day yet, but for application of a few hours, its performs quite consistently.

Orkid Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks (RM39 each)

These are the only lip products in the bag, and I must say, it's more than enough! I have heard of Orkid Cosmetics, but have never had the chance to try them. Orkid Cosmetics is a brand created by a local beauty blogger, and their matte suede lipsticks are one of their bestsellers.

I quite like the packaging, it is simple enough, without too much embellishments, and the different shades are clearly reflected on it.

The shades we got are their four bestselling colours, and it's not hard to see why. These colours are easily wearable for daily wear while also being striking enough to carry your look from day to night.

Taken with flash. Though these are matte lipsticks, it is not drying even after application. They come in the standard lipstick packaging, which reminds me of Colourpop, only the lid is black, and not silver.

Taken without flash.

With most lip products, the matte lip comes with a doe tip applicator for easy application.

The colour I like the most is Mars. It is the brick red shade that I like, and is similar to Bumble from ColourPop. It is not as red as Bumble when it dries, however the shade is close enough that people won't notice too much of a difference.

While I love their shades, the formulation is not long lasting, like ColourPop. ColourPop promotes ultra staying power, but this will disappear slightly after you have had your meal. So, if you are someone who requires their lipstick to stay on, I would suggest you bring this with you so you can touch up after eating.

Mamonde Floral Hydro Mist 120ml (RM49) and Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner 4ml (RM39)

Mamonde's spray mist turns the heat down with its cooling effect while replenishing and moisturising skin with Daffodil extract and mineral water.

Meanwhile, their long lasting eyeliner creates vivid lines without smearing eyes for an entire day.

Both of these products are some of my most used products from this bag. Throughout the entire month that I have tried it, I fall in love with it a little more every day. The eyeliner remains on point, and the floral mist smells divine, while giving me the moisture that I need after being in the office the entire day. I just spritz some on halfway through the day and I feel refreshed immediately after that.

If you want to know more about what products Mamonde offers, you can head to their website, http://www.mamondegarden.my/

Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner WP Super Black (RM69.90)

Dolly Wink's eyeliner is also one that I love to use. It is quick dry, waterproof, and super easy to use. It claims to be resistant to sweat, water, tears, and sebum! The tip is a brush tip, which is soft and doesn't poke into my eyes. I have lost count of the number of Dolly Wink liners that I have used and to get this in the bag is one of my dreams come true.

So how does it fare compared with the Mamonde eyeliner? Dolly Wink's liner is finer, mostly due to the sharpness of the tip. If I want a cleaner eye with a very thin line, I will opt for Dolly Wink. However, on days that I want bold strokes, I will choose Mamonde's eyeliner. Staying power for both these liners are superb, so it really just boils down to what thickness of a line you want.

Clinelle PureSWISS Hydracalm Sleeping Mask 60ml (RM75.90)
Clinelle UV Defense SPF50 30ml (RM48.70)

Clinelle's Sleeping Mask is cooling, refreshing, and helps to hydrate and brighten your skin overnight. It is a gel based formula, which is awesome for me as I have combination oily skin. This means that my skin will not be too oily after applying the mask, and I wake up in the morning feeling fully refreshed. Water droplets also form on the skin upon application, ensuring that my skin is fully hydrated throughout the night.

I don't always use sunscreen as I feel that it always gives me an extra layer of oiliness that contributes to my oily T-zone. But Clinelle's UV Defense is neither oily nor heavy. It has a non-greasy formula that protects my skin from harmful UV rays and is a broad spectrum sunscreen that is suitable for all skin types.

Clinelle Hot Body Shaper Cream 170ml (RM89.90)
Adidas Climacool Shower Gel 250ml (RM10.90)
Adidas Climacool Deodorant 35ml (RM4.99)

Need I say more about the body shaper cream? I absolutely love it! I have heard so many rave reviews about this product that I have always wanted to try it out but never got the chance. So when I saw this in the bag, I was so happy and glad that I now have a chance to try it out.

Adidas' Climacool shower gel and deodorant has motion-activated freshness capsules that break upon friction to release freshness as you move. For a gym convert, I am always on the lookout for fresh scents to keep me fresh throughout the day after I gym in the morning. This shower gel and deodorant really came in handy and it is in my gym bag all the time so I can use it everytime I go to the gym.

And here is the Clinelle Body Shaper Cream :) It claims to reduce cellulite, flatten tummy, shape, firm, and tone the body. As you can see here, the metal roller ball is used to massage the flabs away. It has an 'on' and 'off' switch, which when switched on will enable the cream to dispense, and the rollerballs will massage the cream into the targeted areas. With its SenseHot thermal action, it warms up the skin for immediate penetration of active ingredients into the skin.

I've tried it for a few days, and I am liking it!

Neesya Cleansing Set (RM39)
Pax Moly Aloe Vera Soothing Gel (RM29.90)

Neesya's Travel Cleansing Set is another product that I bring with me to the gym. Its compact size allows me to carry with ease. Furthermore, the gel cleanser effectively cleanses my face without drying it out. On top of that, on days where I need to scrub off those dead skin cells, I use the Enzymatic Scrub and my skin feels good as new without too much dryness :)

When I came back from Lombok, my skin was really dehydrated, so receiving Pax Moly's Aloe Vera Gel was really timely as I used it to soothe and moisturise my skin. It has a cooling effect and the many vitamins and amino acids ensure that my skin gets the moisture it needs! I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to go on a beach vacation. The size itself is also quite worth the money as it comes in quite a large tub.

Neesya products are available at http://www.neesya.com.

Pax Moly Aloe Vera Gel is available at online stores such as Lazada.

1028 Big Eyes Magnifier Mascara 8ml (RM59.90)

This is the only mascara in the bag, and its from 1028, a new brand in beauty that is available in Watsons stores nationwide.

The packaging itself is pretty nice. I like the red accents on the body and the red cover.

It has a diamond shaped brush that coats lashes from root to tip, lifting and thickening every single lash without weighing it down.

Results? I have tried it out below, lashes on the left are coated with the mascara, and lashes on the right are bare. Bear with me. I know I look a little noob in the second photo, but I guess, all for the sake of showing you girls if the product works.

Top look: From first glance, the lashes does look longer.

From the bottom: Comparably, lashes ARE longer that the bare lashes, and it does look more curled than the other.

What about staying power? Well, it doesn't smudge, but it's not entirely waterproof either. It comes off easily with the Bifesta makeup remover or Garnier Micellar Water, so you don't have to use oil-based makeup remover to remove it. Otherwise, I pretty like the look that it sets, especially the curled lashes.

Hadabisei Moisturising Face Mask Extra Rich 5pcs (RM48.70)

Masks, masks, and more masks! Knowing me, if I get a face mask, I would almost ALWAYS get the hydrating and moisturising variant. Which is why this moisturising face mask is such a hit with me.

Boost your skin instantly with this extra rich serum moisturising face mask formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Royal Jelly to deliver hydration deep into the skin! It has a really nice scent too!

After using it, my skin feels hydrated and refreshed, and I could feel it penetrating deep into my skin. My skin also feels more youthful and bouncy (if you know what I mean). I would recomend to use at least once a week for that youthful glow :)

I don't think they have a physical store here, but if you are looking for their products, you can get them on Lazada.
