Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder

Hey girls!

I want to introduce to you Althea Korea's first ever very own product range, the Althea Petal Velvet Powder.

I know many of you are confused as to what this product is, and why would Althea have a branded product considering they are an e-commerce site? Well, with all companies, many of them wants to evolve and be more than what they currently are, which is why we see Althea entering a different phase, and coming up with a product that is synonymous with their DNA of providing affordable beauty for all.

Althea is starting off strong with the Petal Velvet Powder! This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent.

It debuts on Althea's website for a mere RM16.

It comes in an unassuming pink box, reflective of the Althea brand. The lines across the side of the box are synonymous with the Althea box, similar to the ones we receive when we order our products form their website. It has a clean and sleek minimalist design, and has the expiry date clearly stamped on the bottom of the box.

The product itself is small, similar to the size of Innisfree's No Sebum Powder, though a little smaller. This is a plus point for me, as I change bags on a regular basis and I need to ensure that the products I carry along with me are small enough to be fitted into any type of bag.

The design itself is also simplistic, with a pink cap carrying the Althea logo, and a transclucent base whereby you will be able to see how much powder you have left.

The product comes together with a puff, which makes application easy if you don't have a brush handy.

When I first opened it, I wasn't expecting much, as I thought that the powder would be similar to other brands out there. But I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was it soft and velvety smooth, it also leaves no cakey residue like most loose powders out there once my face starts oiling up.

After application, my face feels smooth and silky to the touch. It really does stay true to its name, the Velvet Powder as it gives me a velvety finish.

Another plus for me was the fragrant scent that was not overpowering. It gives off a slight citrusy scent, and the powder is so lightweight that I barely feel it on my skin even after a few layers of application.

One of the points that drew me to it was that it really does what it states that it will do, and that is control my sebum. I apply this in the morning as a finishing powder after I have already finished my makeup for the day, and I don't even have to apply it another time until about 4pm in the evening. That's about 7 hours usage. Most loose powders that I use will have to be touched up at about 1pm.

After trying this on for a few weeks, what do I think?

  1. Small and compact packaging, easy to bring around.
  2. Lightweight powder, doesn't clog my pores, and it really delivers on controlling my sebum for a full work day.
  3. Light scent that is not overpowering or cloying.
  4. It is affordable. Priced at only RM16, what other products out there offer this kind of value for a product that really delivers?

So what do you think? Would this be a product you would want to try? Do let me know in the comments section below.

I highly recommend it!
