Review: Althea Exclusive A'bloom Range

Heya beauty-holics!

I'm back again, and this time it's to review Althea's latest Exclusive products range, the A'bloom range. There are quite a number of products that were sent to us, so bear with me as I go through all of them.

Personally for me, I was very excited when I found out the lineup of the products within this range, mostly because I am such a big lover of blending sponges, especially the bright pink one, but can never bring myself to get a new one because of its price tag. Now thanks to Althea, I have one giant one and three small ones to try out! That, and also some other new products eheheh, so let's go!

Giant Meringue Puff (1P), RM8.00
Althea says: Irresistibly sweet and versatile puff to use dry or wet. It gives off a glossy finish when used wet, and a matte finish when used dry. Blends effortlessly for a flawless finish. Meringue shaped puff for easy application. Tipped end for precision application for detailed inner corners of the eyes, nose, lips. Larger rounded end for easy coverage across the entire face.

The Giant Meringue Puff comes in an extra large size which ensures quick and even application, and expands 1.5x larger when wet for fast coverage. As it's made of high density latex free foam, it is safe for sensitive skin.

So after trying it out a few times, what are my thoughts?

The texture itself is harder than the beauty blender, but a little softer than most other blending sponges out there in the market. I prefer using the puff when wet, as I feel that it doesn't work as well for me if I use it dry. Yes, the finishing is a little more glossy, and I love it as my skin looks more airbrushed.

However, having said that, the puff does take in an insane amount of product the very first time I tried it out, as you can see from the foundation spots in the picture above. It actually sucks in almost the entire amount of liquid foundation I had on my face, that I had to reapply and spread it out a little first before I dabbed with the puff. So the next time I used it, I spread out my foundation a little first before dabbing with the puff, and it worked beautifully.

Would I recommend it? Price-wise, it is certainly more affordable than other blending sponges in the market, and hands-down a better choice. Plus, once you've got the hang of it, it's actually very easy to use and gives a great finishing, so yeah, I would.

Baby Meringue Puff (3P), RM11.00
So basically, this baby meringue puff is exactly the same as the Giant Meringue Puff, only smaller. To give you an idea of how much the puff expands in size, I've done a comparison photo, so it's easier to see the difference.

I like the smaller size, because it is the perfect size for me to bring with me when I am travelling. I don't have to worry about packing the giant puff, because the small one works just as well for me. Of course, being a smaller size, it doesn't cover a large area as fast, but it still gets the job done, and that's what's most important for me.

Also, affordability here is key. You spend RM11.00 to get three puffs, in essence one puff only costs you RM3.67. What's not to love?

BHA Blackhead Blaster (8G), RM16.00
Althea says: Blackhead out without the ouch. Melts away impurities and prevents future breakouts, with natural ingredients (White Willow Bark Extract 5,000ppm) and a melting texture that exfoliates comfortably. Sweeps away impurities to reveal soft skin and gentle and non-irritating formula treats and prevents future formation of black- and whiteheads.

With a stick like this, my first question was, should I use it on wet skin, or dry? I've tried it both ways, and I would say....best to use it on dry skin. Mostly because of its melting texture.

After cleansing your face, apply it onto targeted areas in a circular motion, make sure not to apply too hard so as not to irritate the skin. As it already has refined apricot seed for exfoliation, just the right amount of pressure is needed to get those black-and whiteheads out of your pores. Once you are done, just rinse off with lukewarm water.

For more effective cleansing, place a warm towel onto the skin before use to open up pores.

Thoughts?

Compared to its counterparts, I prefer this brand, mostly because it is gentle on the skin, and gets the job done. Other brands' exfoliating properties are quite abrasive to the skin, which makes black-and whiteheads removal a painful process. But for this Blackhead Blaster, the process is painless and I am left with smooth clear skin!

In addition to this, the Blackhead Blaster can also be used on elbows or heels, thanks to its exfoliating properties.

All sheet mask packets comes packed with a whole bottle of 25g essence. This means you get masks that are super moist with highly concentrated moisture essence. After I use the masks, I spread the remaining ampoule over my neck and decolletage so as not to waste the essence.

The texture of the masks are also different, as they use 100% Natural Eucalyptus Sheets. They have perfect moisture charge with excellent adherence, which means you get more product and the masks stays on perfectly. Unlike other sheet masks I have experienced before which doesn't have a lot of product, and because of that, dries up so fast, my mask starts to fall.

So have you tried out these products yet? If you have, do let me know what you think in the comments below!

Til the next time, stay beautiful!

xoxo,
yin
