I Dared to Wax with Bubblegum!

Now, before any of you think of waxing with bubblegum, I'm here to tell you that this is not the case. While we did go for a waxing session, it was not using bubblegum. Bubblegum is actually the name of the Waxing Parlour that we went to, and it's located (rather conveniently) in Plaza Damas :)

It was a really pinky girly affair as we made our way upstairs to Bubblegum House of Wax. Everything looked so cute, I almost didn't want to eat it. There was Ice Cream with all sorts of toppings and syrup, cookies, noodles, and bread sticks!

This table was located at the middle of the reception area, and I was actually quite amazed that the ice cream survived so long without melting!

Towards the side, there were all sorts of other sweet delicacies all lined up in the cabinet. Macarons of all colours, toppings for the ice cream, bikini bottom cookies, and noodles that came in either Thai, or Teriyaki :D

Yup, you heard me right! Those are bikini bottom cookies! All of them were so cutely decorated, I didn't have the heart to bite into them. BUT, bite into them I must! Furthermore, these were all home made so I had to give one a try at least. It tastes great! What more can you ask for when you get Ask! Joey to be your event planner? Every detail is always so meticulously planned out :D Love them to bits!

Thanks to Mamasan Tammy who found out about the Little Wonton Charcoal Noodles, she got all of us noodles to fill our tummies while we were waiting for the waxing sessions to begin! There are two flavours, Teriyaki, and Thai. Of course, I took the Thai flavour :D

Contents of the charcoal noodle takeout. It comes with a little tub of sauce that you should pour into the takeout container, it has eggs, fishcakes, chicken slices, and even vegetables. Talk about eating healthy :D And they're yummy too! Definitely need to find out where they have Little Wonton outlets so that I can have more of these :)

Before we started our waxing session, we were introduced to the founder of Bubblegum House of Wax, Ms. Jess. Love how she looks so stylish in her dress, feminine yet strong at the same time. She shared with us her passion for waxing, and how she decided to come out on her own and open a waxing parlour for her clientele. It was a great story, and one can't help but admire how far she has come :)

So after that, we were given a tour of the place, and we had the opportunity to take a look inside the waxing rooms.

Bubblegum Wax offers two types of wax for their customers, being hard, and soft wax. Hard wax is located on the right which is red in colour, and the soft wax is on the left, which looks red in here, but is actually yellow when held up to the light. Because the yellow wax is soft, it tends to be a little more sticky compared to the hard wax, thus it will be more painful when tearing it off.

Because I'm a Brazilian waxing virgin (not anymore!), my consultant, Wendy told me that they will be using a combination of soft and hard wax to remove all my hair, as I have never done this before, so the hair will be a little more stubborn to remove.

All in all, considering the circumstances, it was painful in the beginning when the first few strips of wax was removed, but after a while, you sort of got used to the pain, so it's not too bad for me. However, the wax is HOT HOT HOT and I would say the pain would come from the burning of the wax in my nether regions rather than the pulling off of my hair :p

Personally, I think it was very awesome of my consultant to explain to me why they do certain things and what I can do to take care of my skin after waxing, as there will be open pores and wounds. She advised me on what I should do when I bathe, after I bathe, and when I just felt a little discomfort and itch.

I felt really comfortable with her, and despite it being my first time opening up to another person, I didn't feel at all shy as she made me feel at ease immediately. I daresay the next time I come back for my waxing session, I will request for her to be my consultant again :)

Here's me with Wendy, my Brazilian consultant :) No, she's not Brazilian, if any, she's more chinese :p She was really awesome and professional about handling me, and if at first I felt a little shy, it was quickly overcome by her friendliness :)

That day, to keep ourselves occupied while waiting for our turn to enter the waxing room, we were given a challenge to design our own BBG Waxing Box Kit with a shoebox that we were requested to bring from home. The BBG goodies that we could use was the Aloe Vera Gel, Hygiene Wipes, Soothing Cream, Spray Deodorant (which is super good, btw), some Bubblegum, and the BBG Mug! We were also given BBG stickers and fillers to put into our shoe box so that it didn't look too empty, and the rest is left up to our imagination!

I was one of the first to finish decorating the box, but of course, it was mostly cos I wasn't as creative as the rest :p

And the winners of the BBG Waxing Box Kit are (anticlockwise from top) Teo Chin Lu (first prize RM500 BBG Wax voucher), Angeline Ng (second prize RM300 BBG Wax voucher), and Mai Sarah (third prize RM150 BBG Wax voucher). All their boxes were so beautifully decorated!

Managed to take some pics with some of the the butterflies of the day :) As you might have noticed in some of the other pictures, the theme of that day was pink! so everyone wore something with a hint of pink :)

Wondering how much waxing services cost? here's a price list for you!! :) Yes, Men (right) and Women (left) both also can wax :D

It was a great virgin experience for me for Brazilian waxing, and you can be sure that I will definitely return again! It was a morning of great food, great company, no screams of terror, and full of laughs!

Thanks TBP for extending me and invite and for accepting my dare to wax with Bubblegum :)

Sounds like a fun event! I only wax my brows and underarms and I also got used to the pain :) I like it better than threading, pain-wise!

Your post just reminded me how due I am for my next wax!!! anyway, it's always fun to get wax done professionally because they do it right and efficiently. I mean, there's no escaping the pain, so might as well make it worth it and correctly done!

How awesome! I probably would have chickened out myself haha. Love the concept of Bubblegum wax so girly and feminine and it's amazing that your consultant made you feel at ease. I can definitely understand why others might feel intimidated at first though, I went through that but with my pregnancy and giving birth before, I think I'm way passed shyness haha. x Donah
