As part of my beauty regime this summer, I'm sure you guys have seen my post about wanting to go for the Kiehl's Fun in the Sun event at One Utama's secret garden :) Thanks to The Butterfly Project, my wish came true, and I got to attend it :)
First off, let me just say that the Secret Garden was amazing! I never knew there were so many beautiful flowers and plants on the rooftop of One Utama! The perfect place to get away to chill and relax your tired feet (if you're a naturalist sort of person) :)
Thanks to Kiehl's as well, we were each given a three step skincare set to bring home to try out, and so I will divide this eventout into two parts, one being the Event, and another being the Products. So let's start with the Event first, and I will blog about the products in part 2!
*Hi Mr. Bones!*
Everything at the event was very well thought out, from the arrangement of the colourful lanterns at the walkway, to the beautiful displays leading up to the event area where butterflies get to have a shine free test to find out what skin type they have.
There was also a product display and testing area where the Kiehl's KCR was there to introduce Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free range to the butterflies. We had a skin analysis done, where they held two tester strips to our faces, one on our cheek and another on our forehead that could detect the shine level on our skin, and we could find out what sort of skin type we are. Sort of like an offline skin analysis that didn't require much technology or computers :p
I found out that I have actually been misguided all along into thinking that my skin was the oily type. According to the KCR, my skin is actually a normal skin type. All these years, when I felt that my face was oily, it's actually just shine on my face, not really oily type of skin per se :/
Based on my skin analysis, my T-zone area is more oily compared to my cheek area. However the amount of oil on my T-zone does not constitute a total oily skin type (as I used to think), it's more a normal skin type. The grey area in the tester kit is specially formulated to detect oil, so you don't have to worry about the test results being inaccurate in terms of shine.
In addition to the product testing booth, there was also a photobooth prepared as well where we
posed to say cheese with a beach in the background! Finally managed to take a pic with Janice after such a long time of attending events together :)
The next part was also one of my favourite parts, where we can make our own DIY cactus terrarium thanks to Frozen Trees :) There were so many types of cactuses to choose from, and so many types of Glasses to house them in.
Check out the beautiful cactus terrariums of some of the butterflies! Don't they look just awesome? There were so many cute displays that we could use as well, from large mushrooms to mini mushrooms to tigers and cranes. Wana have a look at mine?
Ta-daa!!!!!! My beautifully made cactus terrarium :D Though it did get partially destroyed a few days later thanks to my Glen who beheaded the crane :p Luckily up to today my cactus is still alive, though a little worse for wear hahahaha (there were suspicious bite marks that definitely didn't come from me). I hope that I will be able to keep this plant alive as long as I can :D
But of course what event would it be if I never introduced you to their star product of the day? and that product is their Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream! It was just launched this year, and just in time for summer too!
Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream Fresh Hydration, a new, refreshing, non-sticky formula that conditions normal to oily skin for a full 24 hours of fresh-feeling hydration. It is also fragrance-free and will not leave a residue. Used daily, this lightweight gel cream minimizes the appearance of shine.
Kiehl’s chemists selected an efficacious blend of ingredients to work together to help strengthen skin’s moisture barrier, leaving it velvety-soft and looking virtually shine-free.
These ingredients are:
Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract - The plant thrives in dry, excessively saline environments and is native to many of Earth’s deserts, but is especially prolific in the Australian Outback. Its roots contain high concentrations of potassium, and help to provide an immediate and lasting hydrating effect.
Antarcticine – The formula, with Antarcticine, will help to provide superb protection against dryness, and helps hydrate skin, providing it with a noticeably smoother appearance while shielding skin from external aggressors. It further helps to protect the skin by facilitating skin’s retention of natural water reserves. Sourced from Antarctica, it is a glycoprotein.
Glycerin – Glycerin attracts and pulls moisture from the air to replenish and hydrate skin.
I've tried it out for myself, and after one month, I must say, I'm very pleased with the results!!!! Do look out for my next post where I put up a review of Kiehl's three step skincare that we got that day!
Now of course it wouldn't be a great event without the beautiful people that attended, so here's a snippet of some of the people that I managed to take a picture with!
The Butterfly team :) These awesome ladies (plus Illy too!) have all worked tirelessly to ensure that we butterflies got the opportunity to attend these events and expand our beauty horizon and network. It's precisely thanks to these people that we get to know more about beauty products and try them out! Thanks so much ladies!
With my fellow bookworm, Nikki :D whom I have had the pleasure of knowing for a while now. Who says the butterfly community only brings together beauty aficionados? They bring together bookworms like us too!
myself, Frankie, Fish, and Trislynn
It's been far too long than I can remember as to the last time I've seen them :) I've been so out of touch with the blogging world lately that I've not been attending most events. But glad to see that they're still the same, and as pretty as ever!
Pic courtesy of Shopgirl :) love her camera!!!! and skills!!!
So that's it for this post ladies! Be sure to try out Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream to stay shine free this summer!
Til the next time, stay beautiful!
xoxo,
yin
