Event: Zalora introduces new British brands during GREAT campaign

Following a successful GREAT campaign in Malaysia last year, more British companies are looking at business opportunities in this dynamic country with a fast-growing economy. This year, 18 British brands have joined the trade mission to Kuala Lumpur and will also explore the market opportunities in neighbouring Singapore.

Besides the retail and food and drink sectors, this year’s campaign will also include the experience economy sector, which focuses on the leisure industry such as themed attractions, museums, water parks and zoos.

UK Minister Grant Shapps, who launched the GREAT Week at the British High Commissioner’s residence here today said:

“I am delighted to be returning to Southeast Asia to promote the GREAT Week. When I was here earlier this year, it was clear that the UK enjoys a very close relationship with the countries in this region, which is increasingly important to boost our bilateral trade.

It is heartening to see so many new British brands entering this growth market such as Hamleys that has opened their first Southeast Asia store in Kuala Lumpur, as well as Modalu England and Newens Tea House. I hope this GREAT week results in more British brands doing likewise.”
