5 easy ways to get beautiful skin

Hey guys :)

Some of you have asked me personally how to achieve great skin that people will be envious about, skin with great complexion, and flawless even without makeup.

Well, I'm here today to let you know what I think will be the top 5 ways to get beautiful skin!

1. Get enough sleep

If you don’t want to wake up looking like a giant panda in the morning who has just cried buckets the night before, then please do take my advice.

At night, your skin repairs itself, and prepares for the next day. And the optimal time for your skin to do so? Between 10pm to 2am. So get to bed early, and rise the next day feeling like a new person! And of course, I do mean get uninterrupted sleep, where you sleep all the way til you wake up the next day (maybe at 6, or 7, or whenever you need to get up to go to work). I do NOT mean go to sleep from 10pm to 2am, wake up to do whatever you want to do, and then trudge back to bed again before waking up for work, because, my dear, it doesn’t work that way. You will only be putting more stress on your body, and trust me, you will definitely feel more lethargic when you wake up the second time around and feel like

Your body needs all the rest it can get, so help it along as you can, and I assure you, your skin will feel like a million dollars every day!
2. Drink a lot of water

I’m sure many of you have heard about this from your parents, and you’re gonna hear it at least one more time. From me. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. That’s an equivalent to about 1.5-2 litres of water?

Water is crucial when it comes to skin health because it flushes toxins out of your body, delivers nutrients to your cells, and keeps your organs functioning. It makes your skin look firmer and clearer by flushing away all the bad stuff.

Drinking water on a daily basis is actually easier than you think. Just fill up a large bottle or container with water each morning, bring it to work with you, and keep drinking from it throughout the day. Keep it close by. As they say, out of sight out of mind, so keep it near you and within your vantage point, so you remember to drink from it. If you’re someone who doesn’t like the (nonexistent) taste of water, you can always spruce it up with some lemon slices for a fruit infusion. On the plus side, lemons are also rich in Vitamin C, which is an added point for your skin.

3. Three step routine skincare

There are many 3 step routine skincare out there, but if you’re just starting out, I would say that the best and most affordable one is Clean and Clear’s three step routine skincare. Just Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise. What I like about Clean and Clear is that they have travel sizes that you can buy in a set to try out the set first to see if it’s compatible with your skin. The best part is that it costs less than RM20.00 so it doesn’t hurt the pocket.

The three step routine is very important as it gets your skin ready for the day, and replenishes moisture and nutrients at night. For skincare to be the most effective, you need to cleanse to remove all impurities, tone to tighten your pores and moisturise to hydrate your skin.

I would always recommend Clean and Clear to those who are asking me what skincare they should get, especially for acne prone skin. Their properties can sooth the skin, and I daresay they worked when I erupted in breakouts. Real life case study here ^^

4. Scrub and mask at least once a week

This is another item that I really swear by.

Just having a good three step routine is not enough. You will need to pamper it, and give it some good lovin’. As the skin undergoes its renewal process, dead skin has to be sloughed off to give way to the new one. For me, a good scrub is definitely one that is not harming to the skin, and is made of natural ingredients which doesn’t strip off your skin’s moisture.

As your skin goes through the rigour of life, it’s normal for it to feel tired and feel dehydrated. So plump it up with some moisture, with a mask, or a sleeping mask at least once a week. I usually like to use hydrating and collagen masks.

Additionally, you can opt for a facial once a month to really pamper that skin. This is something I preach but seldom do *guilty as charged* I’ve gone to a few facials in my lifetime, and I would say that the one at Serene Aesthetics is not bad. If you have the time, head over there to try out their hydro facial. The few times I’ve been there, I actually fell asleep during the facial cos it was just so relaxing.

5. Stock up on fruits and vegetables

As the phrase goes, you are what you eat, and what you put into your body will show externally, so it is always important to watch what you eat.

For beautiful skin, you will need to eat fruits that are high in Vitamin C. Why Vitamin C? Because they help defend your skin against damaging free radicals. Fruits that are high in Vitamin C are like guava, papaya, kiwi, and of course oranges. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that is naturally found in the skin, so eating fruits that are high in Vit C content can replenish your skin's stores. Vitamin C also helps your body produce collagen, a protein that helps keep your skin firm and elastic.
