Review: Althea Exclusives Cosmetic Range

Heya everyone! A little late to the party, but better late than never! I'm sure you've seen out there quite a number of blogs already reviewing Althea Korea's Exclusive Makeup range, but I guess one more blog wouldn't hurt right? Been really busy the last month, but I finally managed to carve out some time this morning to film my makeup tutorial video using the products I received from Althea.

If you haven't heard, Althea Korea has come up with their exclusive makeup range, and I must say, the products are better than expected. Before I go into the video, let me just share with you the different products Althea has launched.

Flawless Creamy Concealer, 6g, RM15.00

Althea says: Spots, panda eyes and other blemishes raining on your parade? Smooth over and cover them up with Althea's Flawless Creamy Concealer, a pigmented, blendable concealer that'll whisk them all away! This buildable formula is made with Aquaxyl to moisturize and improve the overall health of the skin, while its long-wearing properties ensure it stays on your face all day. You'll be looking and feeling great in no time!

The product comes in four colours, which are (from lightest to darkest) #01 Vanilla (Pink beige #21), #02 Ginger (Warm ivory #21), #03 Honey (Warm peach #23-#25), #04 Mocha (Deeper yellow #30). Why only four colours? I think as it's specially formulated for Asian skin, you have only a few ranges to play from, which is the really fair colour (Vanilla), to a somewhat tan tone (Mocha). Not sure if they will be coming out with more colour ranges, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Packaging itself is minimal, as is the Althea way, and it comes with a barcode sticker sealing the cap and the bottle. The sticker is a little hard to peel off, and comes off tacky, which I don't like. I always prefer stickers that come off easily so it doesn't leave any mark on the packaging, but that's just me.

It comes in a 6g tube, with a doe-tip applicator, and the formulation is as the name suggests, creamy. The product glides on easily enough, and blends very well either with a brush or with your fingertips. Coverage is medium to full, and I like that it doesn't cake on me, even after using it for a full day. They say it's buildable, but for me, one application is enough.

Spotlight Eye Glitter, 4.5ml, RM24.00

Althea says: Have all eyes on you with Althea's Spotlight Eye Glitter! This sparkly number doubles up as both an eyeshadow and a liner to light up the eyes for some perky, glamorous peepers. Whether you like a subtle glow or a full-on glitter look, these have a hydrating formula that glides on like butter over the lids, allowing for an easy blend. Don't wait too long though, as they do set down, making them virtually budge-proof after. Pick from two pretty shades to suit your look!

This product for me, is one of the star products that they have produced this round. I really love the glitters, and using them as an eyeliner really makes my eyes pop. The product comes in a 4.5ml bottle, and has a precise brush if you want to use it as an eyeliner.

There are two colours, which are Gold Light, and Pink Light. Looking at the swatches, although from the outset the Gold Light looks white, but after application the gold specks and glitter become very visible.

When they say glitter, they really mean glitter. Just one application packs a punch, and even after I removed the swatch on my arm with wet wipes, the glitter was still visible, and it took a few wipes to clear everything.

Watercolor Cream Tint, 4,5ml, RM20

Althea says: Get deliciously juicy lips with Althea's Watercolor Cream Tints! These pretty tubes give you the best of all worlds with the pigmentation of a lipstick, the long-wearing power of a stain and the moisturizing formula of a gloss. Bold, pigmented and equipped with a pretty sheen, these lippies contain hyaluronic acid and squalene to prevent chapped lips from flaking, perfect for stashing in your purse for easy touch-ups and comfortable wear. Pick from 4 different shades to suit your mood!

There are four shades to choose from in this range, and they are: #01 Plum Cream, #02 Strawberry Cream, #03 Peach Cream, #04 Marron Cream. Yes, it's Marron, it's not a typo. The product comes in a pretty plastic case, with doe-tip applicator.

Despite the name of it being a cream, the formulation glides on the lips pretty easily, and if you're a fan of ombre lips, you can definitely achieve it with this product. When they say long-wearing, they really mean it. Even after I removed the swatch on my hand, the stain remained there for a good 12 hours.

The only gripe I have with this product is that the colours, although there are four of them, are all so similar that you essentially only have two types of colours, which is red, and brick red.

Eye Palette Sunrise & Moonrise bcl x Althea, RM140.00

Add some celestial magic into your beauty routine with Althea's very first eye shadow palette: Sunrise & Moonrise! Made in collaboration with Bunga Citra Lestari, these 8 shades will take you from gorgeous daytime to sultry night time, giving you the effortlessly glamorous feminine style Bunga is known for. In shimmers, mattes and glitters, these pigmented shadows glide easily onto the skin and blend out like a dream, allowing you to create an array of looks suitable for any occasion.

Bunga Citra Lestari is an Indonesian singer and actress that have graced the screens of many across South East Asia. Affectionately known to her fans as BCL, she’s also a beauty and fashion icon that exudes style, beauty and femininity.

First off, when I opened up the palette, the shades in this palette were spot on. These are all colours that Asians would use, and there is a proper mix of mattes, shimmers, and glitters that you can use from morning to night. When I swatched them, I am amazed that they are super pigmented, and super velvety to the touch. Just one swipe is enough to see the colour payoff, and I am sold on this palette.

Upon application, there is a little bit of fallout, but nothing that can't be managed. Because these colours are so velvety and creamy, it makes it very easy to blend, and the highlight shade accentuates the brow bone perfectly.

If you're new to the eye palette game and is looking for an eye palette that is versatile for both morning and night, this is your palette.
