Wagyu Beef @ The Restaurant, The Club Saujana Resort

Few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing the delicious taste of Wagyu Beef thanks to The Restaurant at the Club, Saujana Resort. I've always heard that Wagyu Beef is prime beef that melts in your mouth and tastes heavenly. Coming here, I was not disappointed :)

Located a little deeper than Saujana Resort, The Club caters mostly to business class parties and expats looking to unwind after a long week at work.

Upon entering The Restaurant, I was mesmerised with the elegant setting of the place. It would be a place I don't mind my bb bringing me for a romantic night out :) Every detail was meticulously arranged, with a bowl of tealight candle lighting up the place at each table.

Look at the quaint salt and pepper dispenser. It really complements the table dressing well. Every detail was looked into, and I was left wondering how they would put the salt into their dish.

Crackers to munch on while waiting for our food to arrive.

Spiced Wagyu Beef Tartar

With compliments from the chef, we had this beautiful dish which was not in the menu. Filled with Crispy Potato Roesti, Pickle, Pan-Roasted Quaill Egg and Sour Cream, this was an eye opener for me as I never expected Wagyu beef to be so tender and soft.

Wagyu Beef Carpaccio

Our first course started with this as the appetizer. This dish comes with Parmesan Cream, Parmesan Shavings, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Aged Balsamic with a bit of a salad on the side. Carpaccio is basically an Italian recipe for a raw beef appetizer dressed with a lemony mayonnaise and cheese. The hand cut slices went really well with the aged balsamic, coupled with the parmesan cream.

Wagyu Beef Cheek Consommé

The next course is the a soup dish which is called the Wagyu Beef Cheek Consommé, a clear soup that's made from stock with ground meat and mirepoix that comes with homemade Wagyu Beef Cheek ravioli and vegetable balls. I loved the soup as it wasn't too salty or sweet. It was very fragrant, and the vegetable balls were a good change to the regular taste of just beef stock soup.

Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek

Our next course was the Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek. Topped with Wagyu Beef Cheek Deep Fried Wantan and Oven Roasted Vegetables, the braised Wagyu beef cheek is a must have. The beef was very soft, and when each bite was taken with the vegetables, it gave my palate a different burst of taste each time. I cleaned up my plate so fast and wondered how I could ever take in the next dish as I was already quite full.

Wagyu Beef Striploin

I was wrong. I thought my tummy couldn't take any more, but after seeing this, I just had to have it. The two strips of Wagyu beef that were topped with Black Pepper Sauce along with Garlic Beans and Horseradish Moussline were the best Wagyu beef I had tried so far. According to the chef, the Wagyu beef was cooked as medium rare but most of us felt that it was medium instead. The mashed potatoes were soft, and I really love the garlic beans. They had just the right amount of flavour, and even though I was full, my stomach somehow made room for this dish :p Furthermore, this dish was served on a warmed plate, so the dish didn't cool down as fast.

Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sorbet and Raspberry Sauce

This was our last course of the day. The sorbet had a fluffy texture, and its soury taste was just right for my palate :) To add to the mix, the chocolate used was madagascar chocolate, and when coupled with the raspberries, it was a perfect finish to an already delightful meal.

Chef Alexander Waschl

Just a little info on our brilliant chef, Alexander Waschl. He is The Restaurant's Executive Chef. Austrian born, he has already made a solid stamp on his creation. Part of the team that earned 16 Gault Millau points previously in Switzerland, which is the equivalent of Michelin Star, Chef Alexander brings an exciting edge to his creations by offering a variety of different cuts and preparations of Wagyu beef. It is with lots of thanks to him that we could enjoy such a wonderful meal :)

Parting shot with the beautiful roses at the Restaurant :)
