Bloggers' Annual Lousang Gathering

And with that title, it is once again the mood for Chinese New Year! Most shopping malls already have their CNY decorations up, and it is time to usher in the year of the snake! :)

As is the tradition that has been ongoing since three years ago, us bloggers had our usual Lousang gathering, this time at ss2, the New Formosa Restaurant!

They are open all throughout CNY, so drop by if you want a taste of Taiwanese food. The place was pretty small for a restaurant, but it was a good atmosphere if you want a cozy setting.

The usual group picture before we Lousang :)

May we all be happy, prosperous and healthy!!!! The higher you 'lou' the better!

Food that night was ok, nothing extremely good to shout about, but let me show you the two special dishes that I thought was worth mentioning to you guys:

Steamed prawns with Chinese Herbs in hollowed bamboo

Maybe it's a usual dish at Taiwanese restaurants, but I think this was pretty special. The soup was sweet, and tasty, which was contributed mostly from the prawns I would say. The only downside was that there was only one prawn per person, which I feel wasn't very nice, as you could only have one prawn :/

 Sweet Yam in Honey Sauce

I think this dessert was a good touch :) According to Jayren, this is a specialty of the restaurant. The waiters had a tray of ice water ready, and we were wondering why it was there. After a while, we heard the sizzling sound of something being cooked and were pleasantly surprised to see the waitress coming out with a plate of yam which she subsequently rolled with the honey sesame sauce and threw into the ice water.

The resulting dessert, Sweet Yam in Honey sauce! the Yam was still warm,  and the caramelised honey was delectable. It wasn't too hard that we couldn't bite into it with our teeth, but just soft enough to give the crunchy feel.

The usual  must-have group photo with everyone that day :)

It was great seeing everyone again, and I look forward to next year's lousang :D
