Althea Korea Introduces Bare Essentials Skincare Range

Althea, your one-stop online shop for absolutely everything K-beauty, has finally launched its very own product line! First to be introduced from this highly anticipated label is the Petal Velvet Powder, which you can read about here: *click*

The gossip is out! The latest release from the Althea label is one that addresses a common problem faced by millions of Althea's fans. If you're new to the skincare regime market, and you are fazed because there are just too many listed products out there for you to try, then you should give Althea's Bare Essentials range a try.
Althea has stripped down the bare essentials with this new skincare line, so you can focus on what's really important, and that is your skin. Riding on today’s current minimalism movement, Althea’s Bare Essentials focuses on skincare fundamentals and drops all the non-essentials. These thoughtfully crafted products give the benefits of the infamous 10-step Korean skincare routine, rolled into three quick and easy steps. And that is cleanse, tone, moisturise. Anything in between is just additional.

So what are these products? scroll down to find out!

The Contour Cleanser 150g RM23.00
Packed with soothing Ice Plant and detoxifying Lemon Myrtle extracts, this cleanser is densely filled with micro capsules that burst upon contact with water to gently cleanse, exfoliate, and detoxify skin. The Contour Cleanser helps to promote blood circulation, and reduces bloating and swelling for a defined, enviably slim face shape.

The Cleanser has a pearlescent sheen to it, and a little goes a long way. It lathers into a thick lather, which is not only micro fine, but also feels silky smooth. It has micro beads (which I assume are the micro capsules), and I love the clean feel it gives me after. It also has a cooling effect, and I like to leave it on a little longer and lather it up a little more before I rinse it off. I can feel the grime of the day just being washed away whenever I use it.

The Primer Water 200ml RM43.00
Both a hydrating toner and a primer in one, the Primer Water contains patented dewdrop technology (Macro Fluidic Dispersion technology) that gently fills the gaps between pores and allows hydration to penetrate deep within the layers of the skin. Made with Snow Lotus extracts, this skincare heavy hitter has an incredibly smooth and silky texture that enhances the skin’s natural glow, leaving you with the perfect canvas.

The application of this is fairly easy, just squeeze some onto your palm, warm it up between your palms, and dab it all over your face in a patting motion. Although it says primer water, it has a viscous texture to it, but what I like is that it absorbs very well into my skin. As you can see from the photo, it looks exactly like water, and if I didn't know better, I would have thought that it's just that, water.

The Fixer Cream 50g RM50.00
This non-oily, quick-absorbing formula harnesses the power of Trehalose, an ingredient found in the cactus plant that prevents its moisture loss, to provide the skin with 24-hour hydration. This ultra-nourishing wonder cream is also rich in antioxidants derived from Camellia Sinensis (green tea) seed oil, and helps to promote collagen regeneration using Baobab Tree extracts. Upon application, your skin is left looking great and feeling bouncy to the touch.

The texture of the cream is a little on the heavy side, but even then, it absorbs easily into my skin and doesn't feel oily at all. Having said that, however, I don't use a lot of it due to my oily-combination skin, and a little of it goes a long way. I have been using it for a few weeks now, and I have barely made a dent in the level of the cream. The cream has a soothing smell, mostly due to its green tea seed extracts.

Overall thoughts?
Before I started using the range, I had dry and peeling skin on certain areas of my face, which I can only attribute to not being able to find the right skincare product.

After a few weeks of using the product, my skin was smoother to the touch. The dry skin on certain parts of my face abated, and my entire face feels fresh and moisturised. I used to have people tell me that my face oils up very quickly due to a lack of hydration, and I can say it's quite true, in the fact that my face feels a little less oily at the end of the day when I started using this range.

What I loved was also the fact that I didn't have to put on serums, lotions, ampoules, etc after cleansing my face. My skincare routine has been cut from many steps to only three, and that saves me time, mostly because I have to wait in between applications for the products to be absorbed.

For the packaging itself, I like that it is very minimalistic, which makes it classy without trying too hard. Often the best products are the ones that look the most unassuming, and I feel that Althea has got it right the first try. However, one thing that could be improved is for it to have English on the packaging as well, as I could not read a single Korean word on it.

So there you have it ladies and gents, those are my thoughts on Althea's newest skincare range, which I assume will be their flagship product (for the moment, at least). With all three products are available for purchase at RM116, and made with only the best ingredients, it’s no surprise that the Bare Essentials line caused quite the craze in the beauty world. You can now get your hands on these highly coveted products; you’re just a click away from glowing, flawless, crystal clear skin. Plus, Althea is giving out an additional 10% off with a free special edition mirror if you purchase now so head on over to www.althea.kr today!

Til the next time, stay beautiful!

xoxo,
yin
